LMI seeks a Tactical Sports Scientist II to support the U.S. Army's Holistic Health & Fitness (H2F) initiative as a member of the Analytics functional team within the H2F Program Support Team.
The Tactical Sports Scientist II supports the applied analysis and interpretation of human performance, workload, and recovery data to inform readiness assessment and injury-risk awareness within the Holistic Health and Fitness Management System (H2FMS). Responsibilities
Support analysis of performance, workload, fatigue, and recovery-related data across Army populations.
Assist in identifying trends and patterns related to training exposure, readiness, and performance outcomes.
Apply foundational sports science principles under senior scientific and Government direction.
Support interpretation of data from wearable sensors and performance monitoring technologies (e.g., activity, workload, physiological indicators).
Assist in evaluating data quality, consistency, and appropriate use of performance metrics.
Coordinate with data engineers to support ingestion and integration of performance-related data into H2FMS.
Assist data scientists and AI/ML engineers with preparation and validation of performance-related analytic inputs.
Support review and testing of analytic outputs related to performance, workload, and recovery.
Help translate applied sports science concepts into system requirements under Government direction.
Collaborate with epidemiologists and research psychologists to support integrated analysis of injury, behavioral, and performance data.
Coordinate with software and user engagement teams to ensure performance-related insights are accurately reflected in user-facing outputs.
Support preparation of analytic summaries and briefing materials as directed.
Contribute to documentation of analytic methods, assumptions, and limitations.
Support adherence to Government data governance, privacy, and usage requirements.
Maintain familiarity with Army H2F doctrine and approved performance science practices.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience supporting applied sports science or human performance analysis in military, tactical, athletic, or physically demanding environments.
Foundational knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, workload management, fatigue, and recovery concepts.
Experience or exposure to performance monitoring tools or wearable technologies.
Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams spanning analytics, research, and software.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

The target salary range for this position is up to- $155,038.

Six to twelve months of laboratory training/job experience necessary in order to become familiar with a variety of laboratory testing procedures.

Must be able to determine the appropriate course of action for abnormal, atypical or critical test results.

**What You Will Do**
The Field Research Scientist supports and manages the day-to-day operations of the research program in an assigned territory, by working with regional Site Leads and key stakeholders to plan, establish, maintain, collect accurate agronomic data from, and harvest corn soybean, wheat, and cotton trials.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Must be located in or around one of the following areas: Southern New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, or Virginia.
+ Ensure safe and efficient operation of the research program with respect to budgetary guidelines and expectations and support the site ESH program as it applies to North American Field Testing and Operations.
+ Selection, preparation, and maintenance of multiple field testing sites. This requires safe driving including frequent trailer use hauling loads in excess of 10,000 lbs; pre-trip inspections and use of log books.
+ Plays a vital role in trial preparation including seed processing, packaging, shipping, protocol review, trial placement, and mapping/field design.
+ Maintain field trial sites as week, insect, and disease free;
+ Having a confident ability in identifying key weeds, insect, and disease problems is critical, as is timely and accurate implementation of control measures;
+ With the use of handheld electronic equipment and Monsanto proprietary software, collect notes on various agronomic traits (e.g. emergence uniformity, flowering date, lodging, height, maturity, shattering resistance) in a timely manner throughout the growing season;
+ Harvest plots and collect samples for quality and statistical analysis; ensure harvest data is evaluated and relinquished in accordance with crop advancement deadlines to aid in product advancement decisions;
+ Develop, maintain, and implement the use of controlled SOP documents, QMS procedures, and investigative protocols;
+ Comply with all Monsanto regulatory compliance guidelines for Confined Release and Stewarded Trial material;
+ Collaborate with other Agronomic Research Specialists, Site Leads, and Principal Investigators in order to facilitate efficient trial planning and placement;
+ Sharing of ideas and techniques and quick response to issues that may arise (e.g. weather or pests affecting trials);
+ Works closely with Plant Breeders, Principal Investigators, and Agronomic Research Specialist to filly understand the multiple stages of crop development and the importance of each step involved and share experiences cross-functionally as needed;
+ Field selection, cooperator relations, and ability to learn research equipment operations and basic maintenance (all types), field maintenance, and data collection;
+ Basic Agronomic knowledge/Crop Management knowledge;
+ Technical savvy and ability to adhere to compliance and safety policies;
+ Utilization of IT tools, time management, prioritization skills;
+ Must be self motivated with good decision-making abilities;
+ Accountable for business unit or project results through leadership and coordination across site strategy;
+ Ability to prioritize and monitor projects to ensure completion within deadlines and budgets;

The Quantum Electronics Group (QEG) in the Department of Physics at Norfolk State University is seeking a postdoctoral associate with expertise in nonlinear and ultrafast optics, high power diode-pumped lasers, and laser spectroscopy of materials at cryogenic temperatures.
The successful candidate will conduct research on magneto-optics, low temperature and high magnetic field microscopy, and ultrafast two-color, pump-probe experiments on strongly correlated electron systems, topological insulators, 2D materials, thin films, nonlinear optical crystals and quantum devices incorporating some of these materials. The laser facilities include: a 5W Solstice regenerative amplifier, two Topas Prime/NIRUV OPA's, Mai Tai fs laser, a Quantum Design OptiCool cryostat 4k-300K range with a magnetic field up to 7 T, and related optics and electronics.
The materials and devices studied will be fabricated in the NSU Crystal Physics and Quantum Electronics Laboratory and in the NSU-Micron Class100/1000 Cleanroom, both located in the McDemmond Center for Applied Research on the NSU campus. Some of the facilities include, single crystal floating zone growth, Bridgman crystal growth stations, a 14T, 50 mK Quantum Dynamics PPMS, a low temperature XRD, a Laue backscattering, and state-of-the-art cleanroom fabrication systems.
The appointment is for 2 years if hired by September 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD degree in physics, optical engineering, or similar discipline related to research. The applicant must also show an interest and ability to communicate and mentor a diverse student body of undergraduate and graduate students, work in close collaboration with members of the Quantum Electronics Group and have the initiative and capability to work independently.
