ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Inspection of incoming materials, process and final product inspection, evaluation of product conformance, data review and analysis and NDE inspection reports. Set up, calibrate and operate various non-destructive testing instruments to verify steel integrity. Calibrate and perform NDE in accordance with NADCAP standards. Obtain and maintain internal certifications in NDE disciplines - Ultrasound (UT), Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) as part of NDT role. Obtain Niton, Brinell, and Final Inspection certifications. Review shop order, specifications, and production prints to determine appropriate testing and inspection parameters. Prepare print of non-conforming material indicating a description and location of non-conformance. Prepare documentation to be used to submit deviation and non-conformance reports for material out of specification. Prepare any required inspection records/documentation including dimensional reports and customer provided documentation of inspection. Participate in required equipment training for safe use of Crane, Chain and Rigging, Fork trucks, use of etchants, and the use of special evaluation tools such as the Niton gun and radiation detectors. Participate in required documented procedure training as required by position and or assignment of supervisor. Communicate with Sales, Process Engineering, Metallurgy Lab and Production departments as required to confirm product specifications or to inform of product or process non-conformance. Inspect and evaluate products on customer premises or at Scot Forge for customers or customer's representatives. Asks questions if a process is unclear, or there's safety, or quality concerns. Understand and follow the Scot Forge safety and quality policies. Essential Position Responsibilities: Be the visible leader in driving the quality culture; direct hands-on engagement at all levels and stages of the implementation and execution. This action includes coordinating quality cultural expectations into organization development and training efforts. Promote the Use of Quality Tools: be an advocate for the use of core quality tools, processes, and problem-solving events throughout the organization to drive improvement in Quality performance on the production floor. Support and enhance the Scot Forge Corrective Act in Request (CAR) System by building teams and establishing buy-in for improvement activities. Cross-Department Collaboration: effectively interact with production, sales and engineering teams to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production. Ensure appropriate technical support resources are available and utilized to support quality improvement initiatives including facilitation, statistical analysis, and 6-sigma tools. Assist the Director of Quality and Corporate Quality Assurance Team with internal, external Supplier Quality Audits, and layered process audits. Specific Process Ownership: responsible for implementation and maintenance of internal quality systems that support our business, including, but not limited to: Non-conformance control Deviation system Corrective Action Systems Provide leadership activities in developing and maintaining company-wide quality metrics including Daily Collaboration Meetings. Organize appropriate resources to address real time in-process quality problems that need resolution. Provide engineering support to operations to ensure the consistent application of quality techniques are applied during the investigation and resolution of non-conformances or process issues. Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and control plans for key processes and customer projects Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems and tools during new product or process design and startup. Maintains quality employee results by coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results for direct reports or interns as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Metallurgy (or equivalent) Minimum 5 years of experience in metals manufacturing environment Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ) preferred. Preferred minimum of 7 years quality assurance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Six Sigma Black Belt with multiple projects completed. Qualified Lead Auditor in quality systems such as ISO 9001:2008 or AS9100. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities- Grind material defects with hand grinder or overhead grinder. Repair forge tools with welder or grinder. Coordinate pre-forge load with Blacksmith or appropriate forge personnel. Load, unload, and operate furnace to maintain production schedule for forge cycles and post-forge thermal cycles in accordance with forge manual. Remove scrap from the press pits, unload scrap in the appropriate dumpster according to metal type. Record weights on appropriate paper work. Locate material according to shop order information, verify material identity, visually examine material for defects, and transport material, scrap, and forgings throughout production area. Fuel press support equipment, long reaches and fork trucks. Work as a heavy equipment operator. Perform general housekeeping work - clean furnaces and floors. Grind out imperfections. Actively participate to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Follow policies, programs and procedures for the reduction and elimination of industrial accidents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Inspection of incoming materials, process and final product inspection, evaluation of product conformance, data review and analysis and NDE inspection reports. * Set up, calibrate and operate various non-destructive testing instruments to verify steel integrity. * Calibrate and perform NDE in accordance with NADCAP standards. * Obtain and maintain internal certifications in NDE disciplines - Ultrasound (UT), Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) as part of NDT role. * Obtain Niton, Brinell, and Final Inspection certifications. * Review shop order, specifications, and production prints to determine appropriate testing and inspection parameters. * Prepare print of non-conforming material indicating a description and location of non-conformance. * Prepare documentation to be used to submit deviation and non-conformance reports for material out of specification. * Prepare any required inspection records/documentation including dimensional reports and customer provided documentation of inspection. * Participate in required equipment training for safe use of Crane, Chain and Rigging, Fork trucks, use of etchants, and the use of special evaluation tools such as the Niton gun and radiation detectors. * Participate in required documented procedure training as required by position and or assignment of supervisor. * Communicate with Sales, Process Engineering, Metallurgy Lab and Production departments as required to confirm product specifications or to inform of product or process non-conformance. * Inspect and evaluate products on customer premises or at Scot Forge for customers or customer's representatives. * Asks questions if a process is unclear, or there's safety, or quality concerns. * Understand and follow the Scot Forge safety and quality policies.
