What we are looking for
SCS Engineers is looking for a Project Manager or Professional to become a long-term asset to our growing Climate Change practice in the Southwest. You will complete technical work, manage contact with clients, and manage the schedule and work product performed consistent with SCS's quality control standards. Your work will support our clients from the services, manufacturing, industrial and other sectors. We are open to you being hybrid in any SCS office in California, Arizona or Nevada or fully remote.
How you can make an impact
Corporate or Organizational greenhouse gas emissions inventories, product carbon footprints, decarbonization planning, greenhouse gas and climate risk reporting and compliance.
Technical work may include completing calculations, reviewing compliance issues, preparing documentation, reviewing data, modeling decarbonization scenarios, research, and report writing as well as related services.
Work may also include in field activities, such as site visits or field meetings, oversight of verification activities, etc.
Client interaction and preparation of proposals will be required on an as needed basis.
Occasional travel may be required
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Environmental, Sustainability, or other related science degree required
Minimum of 6 years of related experience in corporate GHG accounting, decarbonization planning required
Experience across corporate sectors is highly preferred
Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required
Pay Range USD $80,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr. What we are looking for
SCS Engineers is looking for a EPCM Design/Build Cost Estimator to join our Renewable Energy Division. The division focuses on renewable energy design/build/operate projects in the renewable biogas and renewable power markets. SCS Energy's biogas-to-energy facilities currently operating, or currently under design or construction, will remove more than 2,000,000 metric tons/year of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. Our projects help a diversified client base achieve their renewable energy goals by reducing their carbon footprint and creating useful by-products from waste material. SCS builds systems that power universities, wastewater treatment plants and dairies; generate renewable natural gas sales; and support electric utilities.
The EPCM Design/Build Cost Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates, develop conceptual estimates, and support multiple EPCM construction design-build projects. Project size will range from $15MM to $80MM. We prefer this position to be hybrid in our Long Beach, CA Headquarters, but we are open to remote work or you being hybrid out of another SCS office.
How you can make an impact
Develop and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity take-offs by analyzing historical project drawings, plans, change request scopes, and engineering specifications across various disciplines including civil, concrete, structural, electrical, mechanical, process equipment & piping HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural.
Coordinate with Business Development and major equipment suppliers to gather preliminary equipment information.
Develop subcontractor interest in projects, assist in the subcontractor RFP process, and qualify and level subcontractor proposals.
Assist in itemizing trade-specific scopes and prepare bid packages.
Review contractor proposals against produced estimates for evaluation.
Categorize estimates into WBS Codes based on discipline.
Interact with clients, architects, engineers, and local jurisdictions to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, and costs.
Develop direct, indirect, and services cost estimates, including estimates for escalation, contingency, and other costs.
Develop and maintain the office estimating database and information such as historical cost data, escalation indices, rate of exchange variation, and productivity.
Lead and estimate tasks for labor and material costs of construction projects, including new and changed conditions.
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, blueprints, bills of material, and subcontractor quotations for incorporation into overall project estimates.
Coordinate with design and construction management personnel to fully comprehend the nature of changed conditions.
Assist with subcontractor negotiations as required.
Plan, coordinate, review, verify, and analyze all aspects of estimates and estimate presentation.
Provide technical advice and assistance to management and the Project Manager in the preparation of all levels of estimates.
Appraise overall accuracy of estimates and recommend contingencies for various types of estimates.
Develop independent assessments of subcontractor estimate accuracy.
Recommend detailed estimating procedures and techniques.
Assist in planning and developing formal training programs to maintain and improve estimating techniques.
Maintain familiarity with estimating and cost engineering developments and assess their significance for company business.
Identify and assess improvement opportunities and champion continuous improvement efforts.
Support change management associated with the implementation of improvements.
Development of an estimating software database for estimating.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related major preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant cost estimating experience for oil and gas, plants, refineries, or RNG required.
Field experience required.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required due to travel for this position being up to 25% of the time.

Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and market trends.
Proficient with commercial estimating software such as MC2, Timberline/SageCRE, QuickBid, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, etc. or similar.

The Safety Manager is responsible for proactively and strategically developing, coordinating, and directing company-wide safety compliance programs, systems, and initiatives, to include safety training, incident investigation/follow-up, incident prevention programs, safety awareness programs, and minimizing risk exposure(s). Ensure identified deficiencies and areas for improvement are tracked and trended. Work with project teams and contractors to implement corrective actions. Monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures.
Identify potential safety hazards and assess risks associated with construction activities. Conduct accident hazard analyses (AHAs) and safety assessments to proactively address potential risks. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate hazards and reduce risks to an acceptable level.
Develop and deliver safety training programs to project teams, contractors, and other personnel. Ensure that all workers receive appropriate safety training, including new-hire orientations and specific training for high-risk activities. Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and educational initiatives.
Lead and conduct thorough investigations of safety incidents, accidents, and near-miss events. Identify root causes and contributing factors and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Prepare and submit incident reports to regulatory agencies as required.
Perform regular safety audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify deficiencies and areas for improvement, and work with project teams and contractors to implement corrective actions. Monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures.
Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and local emergency services to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.
Promote open lines of communication regarding safety matters among project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve safety-related issues and foster a proactive safety culture. Participate in safety meetings, committees, and industry organizations to stay informed about safety trends and best practices.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 safety regulations, policies, and guidelines is mandatory. Be comfortable with briefing senior officials and conduct summary status briefings no less than quarterly.

What You'll Bring:

As a Shop Maintenance Manager, you will provide comprehensive maintenance services on various company vehicles, including buses, vans, and service vehicles.
Responsibilities include collaborating closely with the dispatch office and terminal manager for scheduling repairs and services. Additionally, you'll lead your maintenance team in handling both scheduled and unscheduled repairs.

Your Role:
* Conduct inspections for compliance with approved Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
* Oversee contractor compliance with other issued state and federal permits.
* Provide guidance to contractors to implement appropriate BMPs for specific situations.
* Utilize GPS field equipment and iPad tablets to gather and record data.
* Work primarily in transmission corridors throughout Florida.
* Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
* Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
* Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
* Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's of Science degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, or other related majors OR 5 years of prior experience with environmental compliance for linear projects
* Experience with wetland delineations or listed species surveys is very helpful, including Gopher Tortoises, Scrub Jays, Sand Skinks, Burrowing Owls, and other species.
* Good verbal communication and coordination skills
* Self-motivated and a team player with good communication skills
* Willingness to work outdoors in the Florida climate year-round.
* Preference for candidates with past experience with environmental permit compliance of linear projects
* Some knowledge of Florida's ecology is helpful, but not required.
* Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Detailed Description:
For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams to help grow our group. In this role your responsibilities will include managing automation and programming services during construction, collaborating with client development teams to help support the role of proposal and scope/fee development, and interfacing with contractors and clients to execute project work. We are looking for candidates who have delivered industrial, municipal, electrical, and I&C water/wastewater work. The role requires the ability to integrate and apply Brown and Caldwell's service offerings and talent to help our clients solve their most challenging issues. Primary responsibilities include:
* Developing automation programming for industrial projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients.
* Develop, modify/improve, test, and startup PLC and HMI automation projects.
* Perform submittal reviews from contractors and other system integrator developed automation programming acting as owner's advisor.
* The candidate must have experience working with contractors and clients as the project liaison to implement software and hardware upgrades.
* Successfully deliver assigned projects on time and on budget using company systems and tools.
* Overseeing automation programming teams as well as providing mentorship for programmers and designers.
* Participate in business development teams by providing technical input into proposal preparation and attending project team interviews.
* Collaborate with a national team of technical experts, technical sellers, and the national discipline lead for the Automation & Programming group when executing projects and pursing new projects.
* Build and maintain client relationships while promoting and integrating company-wide initiatives and values.
* Be self-motivated with an outgoing personality and excellent planning and communication skills.
* Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
Desired Skills and Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Automation / Programming role with at least 3 years working on government, municipal and/or industrial water/wastewater project teams desired.
* Experience with Allen Bradley and Unity Pro software platforms for PLC's, and Wonderware and GE iFIX for HMI software platforms.
* Proven record of working and maintaining relationships with existing clients and projects with the ability to deliver those projects successfully, profitably, and to the client's satisfaction.
* Demonstrate the ability to document system changes for operations and maintenance records.
* Knowledge and experience with business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary: $106,000 - $145,000
