SCT was founded in 2003, born of the passion & expertise of a team that cut their teeth in performance shops, racing, vehicle calibration, performance parts manufacturing, and aftermarket tuning.
2004 – Founder Albert Vozeh passed away, leaving his legacy to his wife and sons to continue with his vision.
In 2011, longtime Summer Circle Theatre supporters Sam and Mary Austin suggested to Doctor George Peters, then chairperson of the Department of Theatre, that they would like to see a new permanent home for Summer Circle Theatre and would help to fund it.
In 2012, Summer Circle Theatre received the City of East Lansing Crystal Award for its dedication to enhancing the East Lansing community by creating a healthy and vibrant community as an inspiration to others.
Starting in July 2013, the Department of Theatre and the Friends of Theatre at MSU launched a major fundraising campaign for a permanent home for Summer Circle Theatre.
Organized by our newly hired Chief Administrative Officer Gabe Smith, who became the first paid employee of SCT in July 2015, the evening included readings from several shows that have been staged at the Playhouse and was a wonderful reflection on our continued growth.
In March of 2016, SCT celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first production in the Playhouse on Main.
2016 – Due to growth and need, SCT expanded their facility to ensure hand finishing and raw material storage had secure and dedicated locations.

2018 – Through increased manufacturing requirements and customer demand, the facility was further expanded to scale up production (equipment, product flow, etc.) to ensure continued success in on-time delivery of quality parts.
By the end of the 2020 SCT will have produced over 269 plays, 120 of which are world premieres entertaining, inspiring and educating over 4 million children.
