CERTIFICATION: Candidates must have obtained a Master's Degree in Special Education and meet State of Delaware requirements for teacher licensure and certification in special education (Exceptional Children K-12).
REPORTS TO: District Coordinator of Special Programs
OB GOAL: Oversee and facilitate the 504 Plan and Special Education processes for the assigned school. Based on special education knowledge, this individual will serve as the resident expert on special education policy and procedures with a deep understanding of: IDEA; Section 504; Title 14: DE Administrative Code 922 through 929, and serves as a resource to the school's administration and teaching staff. The coordinator is responsible for providing technical assistance to teachers and building administrators in developing and supporting the implementation of 504 Plans, IEPs, the special education process (including those specific to procedural safeguards) and ensuring that district, state, and federal requirements are met. In addition, the coordinator will serve in a case management/teaching capacity dependent upon the needs of the school and under the supervision of building administration and the Director of Special Education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Acts as an advocate for children with disabilities: a. following policies and procedures. b. assuring placements in the least restrictive environment. 2. Schedules and chairs Child Study Team and Individual Educational Plan meetings. a. Reports statistics to Director of Special Education.
b. Reports additional funding needs to Director of Special Education.
c. Reports projected alternative placements to Director of Special Education. 3. Coordinates evaluation process for new referrals and reevaluations. a. Attends and actively participates in all Instructional Support Team meetings.
b. Conducts educational assessments as directed.
c. Supports Special Education Teacher/case managers in gathering information (rating scales, health information, educational history, observation, performance data, etc.) 4. Provides professional development in special education and 504 plans to team and individual staff members.
5. Serves as LEA Representative and district liaison with programs and agencies which provide services to students in out of district placements.
6. Ensures compliance with implementation of timelines with all required special education documents included in DE Title 14 and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
7. Provides guidance and support to the Regular Classroom Teachers and Special Education Teacher/case managers in the development of Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for newly identified students.
8. Maintains files and records as required by local, state, and federal guidelines.

14. Provides classroom support for teachers including modeling of lessons and/or behavioral and instructional techniques.
15. Delivers training to teachers on district initiatives, procedures, and policy regarding Special Education and Section 504.
16. Completes informal audits/file reviews to ensure compliance is met and be able to share out information regarding these audits with building administration and the Director of Special Education.

Under the general supervision of the Transportation Specialist, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Follows procedures to ensure that no child is left alone on bus without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips).
Inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment; reports needs to the Transportation Specialist.
Prepares aides and children for bus drills and ensures bus evacuation drills are held as required.
In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates children according to written and practiced procedures, ensures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written report as required.

Position Purpose

Essential Job Functions
Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
Assists professional staff in the administration of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.

Position Purpose:
To provide assessment, screening, planning, intervention, evaluation, counseling, management and/or referrals concerning the health and medical care needs of students for the purpose of minimizing absences due to illness, maximizing educational opportunities, and creating a healthy school climate.
Essential Functions:
Works collaboratively with health care providers, students parents, school district staff and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care for students.
Assists in the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive school health program.
Collects information about the health development status of students for compliance with state immunization regulations and Board of Education policies.
Conducts school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing.
Performs nursing assessment for students who are ill or injured; applies appropriate theory as basis for providing first aid, nursing care, intervention and referrals for those students.
Evaluates nursing care provided and changes plan of care as necessary.
Implements Board policy with respect to the exclusion and readmission of students in connection with certain infectious and contagious diseases (e.g., Tuberculosis).
Maintains accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law, and Board of Education policies.
Develops individual health care plan when needed with specific goals, nursing diagnosis, and interventions delineating school-nursing actions unique to students' needs and for incorporation into the student's individualized educational plan (IEP).
Intervenes as guided by the nursing care plan to implement nursing actions that promote, maintain or restore health, prevent illness and effect rehabilitation.
Serves as a member of school teams as designated health care professional (e.g., Crisis Teams, PPT, Section 504).
Provides guidance, counseling and health education to students, parents and employees as necessary.
Reports to parents, school district personnel, physicians, clinics, and others as needed to meet student health needs.
Contributes to nursing and school health through innovations in theory; practice and participation in research, including narrative and statistical reports.

JOB GOAL: To assist educational professionals in the educational process as bus attendant for district transportation of orthopedically handicapped.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform/Assist as follows:
Assist in loading and unloading of pupils, including lift operation.
Ensure that pupils and equipment are properly secured to ensure safe transport. Adjust, fasten, and release restraint devices for pupils and equipment, as required. Continually, monitor overall safety of pupils and equipment
Ensure that all pupils remain seated at all times when riding the school bus.
Assist the driver during unusual traffic conditions; act as a lookout when the driver is backing the bus.
Assist the driver in the enforcement of all state and District bus safety regulations.
Perform record keeping tasks related to pupil attendance and bus assignment.
Monitor and report pupil misbehavior according to established procedure.
Assist the driver in keeping the interior of the bus clean. Assist the driver with the post-trip inspection to ensure no pupil is left on board the bus.
Assist pupils with disabilities as prescribed in the pupil's IEP and with personal needs associated with their disabilities.
Assist in bus evacuation drills.
Work cooperatively with all school personnel and parents, guardians and Relative Caregivers.
Attend in-service activities as assigned

Position Purpose
