Here at Seagate's Fremont Research Center we develop leading edge recording media technology for future hard disk drives from theoretical concept through technology development to product maturity. The team works closely with other departments in RMO such as equipment engineering and magnetic and recording test and characterization as well as with other Seagate Research and Development groups and external Research partners. As we continue to push the envelope of recording technology in exciting novel directions, we are looking for candidates who, in addition to an excellent background in thin film- and nano-scale magnetics, can complement our group with expertise in adjacent areas such as spintronics or nano-photonics. About the role - you will: * Work closely within the process team to fabricate and characterize novel media structures for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording and beyond. * Use and develop magnetic, thermal and structural characterization techniques. * Use and develop modern data analysis tools to compare measurements with modeling results to understand the underlying media Physics.
