Speech Pathologist Assistant Job in Orchard, TX
The Licensed Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to work with eligible children (birth to 36 months old) and their families. The Licensed Speech Language Pathologist Assistant is responsible for providing treatment to enrolled children recommended by the interdisciplinary team which must include a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). They must also assist the SLP in complex treatment procedures, documenting patient progress in chart, and conferring regularly with supervision of SLP. He/she is responsible for active treatment and documentation of services delivery/needs. The position works under the direction of Licensed Speech Language Pathologist/ECI Program Managers. Program serves Fort Bend and Waller Counties.
Working hours are Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm. Adjusted time to meet the needs of families and the program may be required, as needed.
90% - $21.65 per hour to start
95% - $22.85 per hour at 6 months
100% - $24.05 per hour at 1 year
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
Licensed Speech Language Pathologist Assistant by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Texas Driver License
Knowledge of infant/child development
Knowledge of early intervention techniques
Knowledge of community resources
Knowledge of assessment techniques
Interpersonal skills for positive interaction with individuals
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate both orally & in writing
Ability to exercise sound judgment in applying departmental policy & procedure
Ability interpret standardized testing instruments
*Texas Driver’s License in good standing
Currently Licensed as Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
Bilingual and Pediatrics experience
Previous work experience in Pediatric Therapy
Job Related Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform CPR.
Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15#), pushing, pulling, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing (with or without aid), standing, walking, climbing stairs, sitting, kneeling and twisting.
Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
