The ideal candidate will be highly responsible, detail-oriented, and well-organized. Applicants should possess foundational microbiology skills and demonstrate a strong interest in preparing antimicrobial-containing culture media for susceptibility testing. They must be willing to learn and show proficiency in performing antimicrobial susceptibility testing for _Neisseria gonorrhoeae_ and other clinical important bacterial species. This position will be involved in helping tease apart which biomarkers are specific to clinical diagnosis, particularly early-stage diagnoses. This will be accomplished by processing human blood samples and testing for protein biomarkers in plasma or other biofluids from the UW ADRC, the Dementia with Lewy Bodies Consortium (DLBC) and other studies. Outreach, Recruitment, and Events (30%) - Assist in creating and implementing outreach plans to help meet departmental recruitment goals and degree targets. Build relationships with Washington State Community and Technical College advising colleagues to increase transfer matriculation. - Serve as a departmental representative at recruitment and outreach events at Washington State community colleges and relevant on-campus events. - Assist with day-of-event coordination for undergraduate orientations, the Bioengineering Capstone Showcase, departmental graduation, and other events, as needed. Program Administration (20%) - Support the chair of the Undergraduate Admissions Committee by serving as a member of the Committee.
