Security Bank company history timeline

1909

Originally chartered as Jefferson Savings Bank, it changed its corporate name in 1909 to Jefferson Security Bank.

1929

September 30, 1929: Security Trust and Savings Bank and the First National Bank of Charles City consolidated to form First Security Bank & Trust, the largest bank in the Charles City area.

1935

1935: Officially acquired our first branch office in Marble Rock.

1940

Late 1940: The bank's ownership passed hands from Ellis and Ellis to Ralph Zastrow, E.L. (Jim) Wallaser, W.A. Herbrechtsmeyer, and Merten J. Klaus.

1951

Security Bank was established on June 18, 1951, as Security Bank and Trust Company (SBTC) in Manila, Philippines.

1954

The bank's head office was first located in the Don Roman Santos Building on Plaza Goiti, moving to Escolta in 1954.

1965

In February 1965, First National Bank of Hallstead merged with the Hop Bottom Bank to form Peoples National Bank (PNB) of Susquehanna County.

1986

1986 marked the opening of the Bank's first branch office in Charles Town, West Virginia.

1987

By 1987 a much needed addition nearly doubled the size of this building, the bank's main office.

1995

SBC's stock was also formally listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange on June 8, 1995, with a 1.5 billion-peso initial public offering.

2001

On June 18, 2001, SBC celebrated 50 years of banking in the Philippines, as it continued to live a tradition of banking excellence.

2006

In 2006 the bank opened it's door to two new offices, the Barron office opened in June at the west end of Shepherdstown and in September 2006, the newest office was opened in Sharpsburg, Maryland marking the first office in neighboring Washington County, Maryland.

2009

In April 2009 the bank merged with the Old Forge Bank to create one of the strongest community banks in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

2009: In 2009, First Security Bank & Trust merged with First State Bank of Nora Springs and First State Bank of Riceville, all members of the bank's holding company.

2013

In December 2013, Peoples Neighborhood Bank and Penn Security Bank & Trust Company merged to create Peoples Security Bank & Trust Company.

2014

In April 2014 Peoples Financial Services Corp., the holding company of Peoples Security Bank & Trust Company, began trading on the NASDAQ Stock Market under the ticker symbol “PFIS”.

Since December 2014, the bank expanded into the Lehigh Valley, Greater Delaware Valley, and Luzerne County.

2015

2015: In June, First Security installed the first Interactive Teller Machines in Charles City.

After December 4, 2015 both banks would do business under the name First Security Bank & Trust.

2016

In December 2016, First Security closed its Meservey and Swaledale offices.

In 2016, the bank partnered with Japan's largest bank The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (BTMU) to bolster its capital and enhance their global capabilities.

2017

The bank's extension continued during 2017 by adding two additional offices to the Lehigh Valley branch network at Emrick Boulevard in Bethlehem Township and Tilghman Street in Allentown.

2018

As of December 31, 2018, Security Bank is the 6th largest in total assets among private domestic universal banks in the country, with total assets of Php 767Bn; 6th largest in loans, with loan portfolio of Php 416Bn, and 5th largest in capital, with capital of Php 109Bn.
