The Venue Security Officer is responsible for supporting the overall safety and security of the facility, its employees, and guests. This role is responsible for ensuring a secure environment and reactive duties to address incidents. The Officer is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets while enforcing safety protocols.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist with the overall safety and security of the venue and its employees and guests.
Admit and screen staff, suppliers, contractors, and visitors into the facility using daily logs and identification badge systems.
Ensure all visitors and employees follow security policies and regulations including enforcing parking rules, visitor badge policies, and restricted area access.
Screen individuals entering the facility using walkthrough metal detectors, handheld wands, and visual inspections, verifying credentials and ensuring compliance with venue security protocols.
Perform thorough vehicle checks at designated entry points, verifying parking privileges and inspecting for prohibited items or suspicious activity.
Utilize X-ray machines and other scanning technologies to inspect bags, packages, and personal belongings for unauthorized or dangerous items, ensuring safe entry into the venue.
Monitor CCTV and other surveillance systems to ensure perimeter security.
Provide a high level of security in accordance with NFL/MLS best practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
Provide protective measures against fire, theft, accidents, trespassing, and property damage.
Create accurate and detailed reports of any incidents, accidents, or unusual activities that occur during a shift.
Provide breaks for other officers on duty as needed.
Performing routine checks to identify potential hazards, such as faulty equipment, blocked fire exits, or slippery floors.
Secure or unlock designated areas based on operational needs.
Assist staff and guests during emergencies to ensure the orderly and safe movement of people.
Monitor facility parking lots and perimeter for unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
Alert management to any safety or security concerns in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned to support venue operations and security.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management, or equivalent experience.
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or venue operations preferred.
2+ years of experience in physical security, facilities protection, or a related role.
Ability to operate and monitor CCTV and other surveillance systems.
Experience with access control systems and digital logging tools.
Skills for Success

General Definition and Conditions of Work
An employee in this class independently performs a full range of law enforcement duties in the areas of community policing, traffic, investigation, and patrol duties. Work includes preventing, detecting and investigating disturbances and crime, helping victims, and performing traffic control work; apprehending suspects; testifying in court; and, executing related assignments. Employee must exercise judgment, initiative, and calm control when performing duties. Work is performed in accordance with campus policy and state and federal law, supplemented by specific directions from superior officers. Work is performed under stressful emergency conditions and frequently involves personal hazards. The employee is subject to hazards associated with law enforcement including working in both inside and outside environments, and exposure to various hazards such as various atmospheric conditions, noise, vibration, and physical conditions. Employee is subject to Level III OSHA Standards on blood borne pathogens, and may be required to work in close quarters. Work is performed under the general direct supervision of the Police Chief and Assistant Chief of Police , and is evaluated through observation, review of reports, and discussions concerning how particular incidents or activities were handled.
Essential Functions & Typical Tasks:
Independently patrols streets throughout the campus in a police car or on foot.
Develops and maintains working rapport with students, faculty, staff, citizens, and community leaders.
Checks doors and windows; examines premises of unoccupied residences or buildings; detects unusual conditions, maintains surveillance and observation for stolen cars, missing persons, or suspects; and, reports dangerous or defective streets, sidewalks, traffic lights, or other hazardous conditions.
Responds independently to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity, domestic disputes, loud and disruptive behavior, and other needs; determines nature of the situation and takes appropriate legal or persuasive action warranted.
Investigates traffic accidents; issues traffic citations; directs traffic; and participates in other emergency operation activities; may be required to give chase to speeding vehicles while ensuring public safety.
Performs investigations of accidents and possible crimes through observation, questioning witnesses and others in the community, and gathering physical evidence; and arrests and processes criminal suspects.
Apprehends and processes criminal suspects and transports to magistrates and detention facilities.
Advises the public on laws and local ordinances; and serves legal papers as needed.
Regulates and directs vehicular traffic at busy times or when traffic signal malfunction or accidents require; and maintains order at public gatherings.
Operates a two-way radio to receive instructions and information from or to report information to police headquarters; maintains vehicle, weapons, and other equipment in standard working order.
Prepares records and reports on activities.
Follows all applicable safety rules and regulations.
Assists stranded motorists; gives information and directions to visitors and the general public.
Performs related duties as required.

Valid North Carolina Drivers' License.
Must obtain the Basic Law Enforcement Certification (BLET) as a law enforcement officer by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
If not currently certified in North Carolina as a police officer, must have the ability to meet the lateral entry requirements as set forth by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
May require specific certifications in one or more areas of law enforcement such as a school resource officer, field training officer, K-9 officer, or other areas of law enforcement.
Employees are required to successfully complete the NIMS course work applicable to the position within one year.
DRUG TESTING: This position requires the employee to be subject to random drug testing as per the Town of Landis Policy.
Salary Description $16.00 - $20.00 Hourly
