Scheduling Expectations The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex: You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment. Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need. You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs. The incumbent is responsible for responding to calls for service (emergency and non-emergency), self-initiated police activity, special details, and community involvement. Required Qualifications 1. Successfully completed at least 2 years of employment as a full-time sworn and certified law enforcement officer with a municipal law enforcement agency or a county sheriff's office within the State of Illinois or with the State of Illinois; AND Satisfied the requirements established by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board; 2. Must not have been suspended for disciplinary reasons by the current or most recent employer. 3. Possession of a valid driver's license. 4. Any applicant hired must serve a probationary period of 12 months. 5. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam.
