We are looking for a red-teamer to join our blue team to help us develop custom detections and fine-tune our alerting and response automations to defend against real, business-specific, threats. As an early member of our Security Detection and Response team, you will play a key role in shaping the foundation of our Detection and Response program. We are a small but effective team and have a high bar for our work.

What You'll Do
Build strong relationships with key employees across the organization

Our client, a recognized leader in the construction and engineering design industry, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Security Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis in San Jose, CA. The Technology Department focuses on designing and managing IT infrastructure projects, including structured cabling, access control, surveillance, audiovisual systems, and wireless technologies. This role seeks a subject matter expert in Physical Security Systems with expertise in Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Video Surveillance solutions. A strong understanding of complementary IT systems, such as low-voltage, network architecture, and wireless technologies, is essential. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be available during regular business hours to address client needs and support internal staff, with flexibility for after-hours work as required.
Apply quality assurance processes throughout the design phase, including design criteria submission, checklists, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Ensure technical accuracy by reviewing and verifying all work, collaborating with team members across disciplines as needed.
Develop innovative solutions to design challenges.
Perform calculations for network bandwidth and storage requirements using engineering principles.
Lead client programming efforts to define functional and technical requirements.
Design and select solutions that align with project-specific standards and requirements.
Oversee the technical design of physical security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and Security Operations Center (SOC) solutions.
Coordinate door hardware schedules with project architects and develop supporting security device matrices and detailed door plans.
Work closely with the design team to integrate supporting infrastructure, such as pathways, equipment layouts, power, and grounding.
Prepare and modify standard contract documents, including functional diagrams, drawings, Division 28 - Electronic Safety and Security specifications, bills of materials, and RFP documents to align with project needs.
Review product data submittals for compliance with contract documents.
Serve as a consultant to clients and provide technical guidance to junior staff assigned to projects.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, materials, bidding, and construction administration, including conducting detailed site inspections and generating reports.
Review submittals and ensure timely and accurate responses to construction RFIs.
Assist in drafting reports, recommendations, and opinions for the Project Manager regarding project direction.
May serve as Lead Project Manager, Engineer, or Field Engineer, conducting site visits and documenting observations.
Participate in project meetings, including kickoff, design coordination, OAC, and construction meetings.
Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts, including scope and fee development, proposals, service requests, and client interviews.
Engage with industry professionals, including manufacturers, representatives, distributors, and contractors. Attend industry events for education and networking.
QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of experience in security systems design and implementation.
Proficiency in Bluebeam is required.
Proficiency in MS Office, BIM Tools, and Bluebeam Studio.
Familiarity with industry-leading security manufacturers and solutions, including Lenel, Milestone, Honeywell, S2, Avigilon, Bosch, Schlage, ASSA ABLOY, and AXIS.
Passion for teamwork and delivering client-focused solutions.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical Security Professional (PSC/PSP) certification is a plus.
Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is a plus.
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Industrial Security Professional (ISP) certifications are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets.
