Armed Security Officer
Position Summary:
A Signal Armed Security Officer will conduct security services for the surveillance and protection against fire, theft, pilferage, malicious injury, and destruction. Armed security officers, equipped with concealed weapons, shall be dressed in a soft uniform for roving patrols and posted at the main lobby entrance of the facility assigned. Armed Security Officers play a vital role by actively observing their surroundings, positively engaging with customers, associates, and responding to emergency situations. All duties listed below are minimum requirements - additional duties listed in the site's Post Orders are requirements as well.
Responsibilities of a Armed Security Officer may include:
Provide reasonable health security and infection prevention controls and screenings, as well as provide escort service to and from staff personnel and State vehicles.
Will conduct and deliver Dedicated services that reflect the company's values, expectations and consistent service in alignment with site expectations/post orders.
Will write detailed and accurate reports utilizing company technology during each shift that align with site instruction/post orders.
Interacting with internal and external personnel on site and promptly report any information that may impact the relationship of the Client to their direct supervisor, the Site Lead Officer or the Dedicated Division Leader.
Responsible for the care of any Signal equipment assigned during shift including company phone, access keys/cards and devices, etc.
Manage daily activities while meeting key benchmarks and expectations set by direct Supervisor such as reporting standards, service quality and performance in line with site specific policies and procedures.
Communicate with direct Supervisor to receive and disseminate information through daily huddles, such as the Client needs through post orders to ensure operational excellence and efficiency.
Site Requirements:
21 years of age or older
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 5 years prior state or large municipality law enforcement experience
Pass a background check and drug test
Must be able to obtain an Alaska Armed Guard License
Complete SPI training modules within first month

* Exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate action when there is a reasonable suspicion to detain, when probable cause exists to search and arrest, and when force may be used and to what degree. Affect an arrest, if necessary, using handcuffs and assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations as needed.
* Comprehend, evaluate, and correctly respond to oral information received from a wide variety of sources such as supervisors, witnesses, victims, or through a variety of other means such as personal statements, or telephone/radio transmissions.
* Conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time and control access of personnel, materials and equipment to and within the work site.
* Respond to general alarms, power outages, broken water/power lines, suspicious activity or security breaches of any kind. Extinguish fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means.
* Process visitors and produce access badges, monitor traffic and parking, may operate and monitor CCTV equipment.
* Understand and employ appropriate safety measures working in close proximity to high voltage electricity and/or highly flammable/caustic materials (natural gas, diesel, ammonia, glycol).
* Conduct regular and random patrols (by foot or vehicle) of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured.

* Ability to complete company-facilitated firearms training program that exceeds State Statutory minimum standards for Armed Guard Licensing upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Provide protection of work sites, personnel and assets from such events as assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive events and conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time.
* Control access of personnel, materials and equipment to and within the work sites.
* Perform security patrols of worksites and respond to general alarms, power outages, broken water/power lines, suspicious activity or security breaches of any kind.
* Enforce policies and procedures; make an arrest if necessary, using handcuffs.
* From a variety of body positions, load, unload, aim and fire handguns, shotguns and other agency firearms under conditions of stress that justify the use of deadly force and at levels of proficiency prescribed in certification standards.
* Perform searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings, and large outdoor areas which may involve feeling and detecting objects, walking over uneven terrain for long periods of time, confronting suspicious persons, assessing intentions, and taking action as appropriate.
* Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering emergency medical aid, lifting, dragging and carrying people away from dangerous situations and securing and evacuating people from particular areas as well as directing traffic for long periods of time, extinguishing fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means.
* Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills when communicating with people by giving information, mediating disputes, advising of processes and rules, and de-escalating altercations
* Gather information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining the statements of all participants and witnesses. Reduce the results of those investigations into written form so as to clearly and accurately reflect the information obtained.
