The Public Safety Officer will strive to assure the safety/security and well-being of the students, faculty, staff and guests. The Public Safety Officer must obtain a CPR/AED certification within 60 days from the date of hire. Perform routine patrols of and through University of Saint Joseph buildings and property utilizing various patrol methods including but not limited to vehicle, foot and bicycle patrols. Mediate disagreements between individuals in a calm and composed manner. Respond to emergency calls for assistance including medical emergencies, fire alarms and other alarms such including those relating to physical plant such as heat, etc. Respond to routine calls for assistance including safety escorts and lock-outs. Investigate and report complaints and violations of college regulations as well as state and federal laws. Investigate and report complaints of vehicle accidents on University property, safety hazards and fire and security alarms received. Effective documentation of violations of college policy and other events by producing legible written reports. Enforce parking regulations and regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic on campus.
