    Under limited supervision, the Security Officer provides security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets at the assigned job site. Enforces safety measures, performs regular patrols of assigned premises, and responds to incidents based on established operational procedures. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum 18 years of age * High school diploma or equivalent * 2 years of prior security, military or law enforcement experience. Driver's license preferred. * Unarmed Security Officer License or able to obtain. * Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC) or able to obtain. * As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Provide customer service to the client by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities. * Understand and successfully execute post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules and regulations. * May perform access control functions and verify individuals are authorized to enter the facility * Process visitors and produce access badges. * Operate gate traffic barriers to prevent unauthorized entry of vehicles * Conduct screening/searches of vehicles and persons entering and exiting the facility. * Monitor traffic and parking areas. * Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry. * Conduct regular and random patrols (by foot or vehicle) of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured. * Display courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers. * May operate and monitor CCTV equipment if appropriately trained and assigned. * May be asked to perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters. * Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner. * Effectively and coherently communicate using a two-way radio or telephone. * Interview people to detect infringements and to investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism and accidents or incidents. Knowledge and ability to develop and maintain a Security Officer Training Program Advanced skills utilizing common office related computer programs plus ability to learn proprietary programs unique to client (CCTS). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Comply with all DUS and client policies, procedures, and work rules. Coordinate security operations at the job site under the direction of the Security Captain. Ensure all required paperwork is completed by the end of the shift and turned into the Captain. Apply knowledge of the techniques and practices involved in the physical protection of property, facilities, documents, and material in order to protect against trespassers, sabotage, vandalism, theft, fire, accident, etc. Write operational and administrative reports and provide a detailed and accurate accounting orally or in writing of all aspects of an incident or event. Ensure that all assigned equipment, vehicles, uniforms, and gear are properly worn and maintained. Report any deficiencies or concerns to the Captain. Schedule personnel and coordinate staffing adjustments to meet immediate and projected manpower requirements in accordance with DUS policies and procedures. Supervise on the job training of assigned personnel, provide direct instruction to security officers, and ensure that client and DUS training program requirements are met. Maintain established standards of officer performance by personal example. Supervise staff and provide coaching, recognition and discipline within approved empowerment range. Evaluate and provide feedback to officers regarding their reports, daily duties and procedures in order to achieve optimum overall performance. Assist with emergency response activities as requested by client and/or management. Maintain composure and control in stressful situations and/or emergency situations. Promote a respectful and professional workplace environment free of harassment, favoritism, and inappropriate behavior. Ensure company and site-specific safety programs are followed by all security staff. Be available to provide back up support for personnel on duty as needed. Safely operate a motor vehicle in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions. May be required to respond to urgent matters on weekends and evenings. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner Understand the administrative duties and responsibilities of the Security Captain. May be asked to assume the Captain's responsibilities in their absence.
