Security Officers support the mission, goals, and objectives of the University, and that of the Department of Public Safety. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Protecting the Methodist University Community (Students, Faculty, Staff and guest) from theft, vandalism, and any disruption of the educational process.
* Must be willing and able to perform rescue/first responder functions during emergencies and disasters including but not limited to:
* Standing for long periods of time
* Administering basic emergency medical aid
* Lifting, dragging and carrying people away from danger
* Securing and evacuating people from all areas
* Extinguish small fires using hand held extinguisher or other means
* Confront and handle domestic or wild animals on campus
* Conduct visual surveillance, foot patrol, ID checks and traffic details for extended periods of time.
* Securing campus facilities either by your presence or through the building security plan.(Checking windows, doors, etc)
* May be required to work in small confining areas throughout shift.
* Following in detail the Public Safety Manual of procedures and any directives of the Director or any supervisory staff within the Public Safety Department
* Abide by and enforce all Methodist University rules and regulations; using the Student Handbook as your guide.
* Assist the Residence Life Staff with resident hall incidents when requested
* Assist members of the college community when requested or summoned
* Must be able to with stand verbal and mental pressure when confronted with opposing views or high stress situations
* Assist in providing Security coverage on a 24 hour basis, and as directed by your supervisor
* Communicate effectively orally and in writing with community members and visitors to the campus when directions, information, mediating disputes and advising of processes
* Communicate effectively orally and in writing with chain of command on a security problems/issues. Or when needed in student court or other formal settings
* Communicate effectively over the radio and telephone
* Be able to operate a security vehicle both day and night (have a current/valid license)

This unit is responsible for providing security support to the residence halls. This position will be responsible for patrolling the designated residence hall , lobby area, hallways, exterior entrances/exits, and other areas within or immediately around the residence hall. This position will also be responsible for monitoring access in each residence hall by checking IDs and Hall Entry Cards for each student that enters the building along with guest registration during the assigned work hours.
Work is completed primarily on the weekend, 16-64 hours per month (subject to change based on business needs)
Description of Work
Secure, guard, and protect property and grounds. Patrol the interior and exterior of residence hall via foot. Guard property against fire, damage, theft, or other hazards; monitor assigned areas for possible violations of policies, regulations, and rules of conduct; recognize and report unusual, suspicious, or hazardous situations. All Residence Hall Security Officers are directed to check the residence halls completely. The Residence Hall Security Officer should check the office and surrounding parameters each hour. Residence Hall Security Guards are not allowed to be watching television or patrolling from cars. During residence hall checks, the guards should be mindful of and document all discrepancies such as unlocked suite doors, unusual activities, strangers or non-students, quiet hour violations, emergency conditions, vehicles thefts in parking areas, university property damage, visitation violations, disturbances, alcohol violations, drug violations, and/or other violations of university policy/student handbook. The Residence Hall Security Guards are to document and report their findings immediately to the dispatcher by way of radio. The dispatcher will then notify the appropriate personnel who will respond to the condition. After 12 o'clock (twelve) midnight, all residence halls are locked from public access.
Operate and maintain security enforcement equipment; and maintain related records and security reports. At the beginning of each shift, the Residence Hall Security Guards will be briefed and receive training from police personnel and the Office of Residence Life. All Residence Hall Security Officers may be required to sign in and out at the Dispatch Office and their designated residence hall(s) or use the normal time tracking procedure established. Check student identification cards (Ids) when necessary. Attend weekly residence hall staff meetings and participate in designated staff training activities as required by the Office of Residence Life and the Public Safety Department.

Role and Team
As a Security Guard, you will be an integral part of the Security Team executing processes at our facility to ensure our associates, customers, and assets are protected. At our gates, you will be the face of ADESA to our customers, vendors and associates. You will play an active role in ensuring our Inventory Control procedures are followed. Account for and identify all keys, codes or other safety and security information
Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers

What You'll Do:

Located in the heart of Cumberland County, the Crown Complex is a state-of-the-art, five-venue complex comprised of a 4,500-seat arena, a 9,200-square foot ballroom, a 10,880-seat coliseum, an exposition center with 60,000 square feet of unobstructed space and a 2,440-seat theatre.
The Crown Complex is home to the Fayetteville Marksmen hockey team (SPHL) and Fayetteville Fury indoor soccer team (NISL) and hosts a variety of other sporting events, family shows, concerts and special productions year-round.

Job Description
Facility Security: Conducting hourly patrols of building and ground of the university. Securing rooms and building during shift and after business hours and functions. Recognizing those situations that are not part of the normal operation of the university.
Facility Conditions: The security officer will make hourly patrols throughout the building check to determine if there are any facility problems such as water leaks, electrical problems, inoperable doors, fire hazards, lights that are out, etc. The security officer will then notify the supervisor or have a condition report completed for the existing problem.
Alarms: The security officer will be responsible for responding to and investigation of alarms. The officer will respond to the area of activation and determine if there is a problem and the proper authority that needs to respond.
Liaison: The security office will be the representative of University Police Department. They will be a liaison between the faculty, staff and student that they come in contact with during their shift. They are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner. They are to interact with the faculty, staff and student. They are required to be knowledgeable about the university and be able to properly respond to questions that may be asked of them.
Policy Compliance: The security officer will be required to comply with all departmental regulations and policies. Properly documenting all leave requests, time sheets, follow the directive of the shift supervisor, respond to calls for service as dispatched, properly maintain and wear uniform and other departmental equipment. Assist in maintaining a secure, clean and orderly work place.
