Under limited supervision, position is responsible for the physical security of Kootenai Health's main campus, clinics, and all leased spaces, to include Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden locations. Assists medical staff in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors within its legal boundaries. Serves as a training and informational resource to team members. Supports KH staff by acting as the point of contact for elevated incidents which do not require supervisor involvement. Maintains daily operations of the officers working on the assigned shift. Assists the security supervisor as needed.
Responsibilities
* Conducts training of new officers in conjunction with the security training officer; completes daily documentation
* Assists supervisor in scheduling adjustments; monitors and maintains staffing needs that arise during shift
* Responds to all high-level incidents as possible
* Participates in daily team huddle and organization safety huddle; determines backup coverage when unavailable to ensure attendance
* Works in a manner that is compatible with Kootenai Health's culture and service orientation
* Patrols hospital buildings and grounds, provides escorts for employees and visitors
* Responds to emergency calls and assists in restraining aggressive patients, if needed
* Weapons secure and releases in accordance with practice
* Exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities
* Public Relations are a key factor of this position
* Assists Law Enforcement on campus
* Makes arrests for involuntary holds as deemed necessary
* Deploys officers on assigned shift; completes daily post schedule and observation reports
* Dispatching functions to include dispatching officers throughout multiple locations
* Monitors multiple systems including camera systems, fire systems, infant abduction alarms, panic alarms, building alarms, and outgoing emergency calls
* Conduct searches of some clients, patients, and belongings, to include confiscation of drugs and drug paraphernalia
* Provides assistance with jump starts and lockouts
* Addresses parking problems and issues citations
* Communicates with patients, visitors, providers and staff via telephone, radio, and in person
* Enforces Kootenai Health no-smoking policy
* Work situations are a variety of routine and non-routine situations and functions requiring a service-oriented individual with good judgment and confidentiality

* Detects and responds to alarms/calls through overhead call and radio systems

* Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, and good driving record
* Must be 23 years of age or older for auto insurance purposes

* Must maintain current certification for MOAB, handcuff, baton, and CS spray

* Successful completion of Hospital Security Officers Supervisor Training Program and receipt of certificate through the International Association for Hospital Security and Safest Foundation within 90 days of assignment

NORTHWEST NAZARENE UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF CAMPUS SAFETY Campus Safety Officer
The Office of Campus Safety is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month) non-exempt position, as a Campus Safety Officer. This position will protect the property and rights of all members of the University. The Campus Safety Officer will provide a safe and secure environment to study, work, and live.
The Campus Safety Officer for Northwest Nazarene University is part of the Department for Student Life and reports to the Director of Campus Safety.
Essential Functions

Enforce campus rules and regulations.
Assist in campus and community safety, crime prevention, and loss prevention education.
Patrol Campus buildings and parking lots on foot or vehicle.
Investigate on-campus complaints and/or suspicious circumstances.
Maintain security access to various campus buildings.
Monitor staff, faculty, and student key card access.
Parking enforcement and issuance of parking citations.
Participate in Emergency Response and Emergency Management processes for campus preparedness.
Respond to calls for service and dispatched alarm calls.
Write incident and safety reports.
Mandatory overtime upon request.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
1+ years of professional work experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to resolve conflict and de-escalate situations.
Must possess computer skills in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new computer software.
Variable shifts (including weekends, holidays) and on-call scheduling will be expected in this position.
CPR and Basic First Aid certified or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Ability to work while standing and/ or walking for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs without assistance.
Must maintain a valid Idaho driver's license.
Must maintain a level of fitness necessary to effectively respond to life threatening situations on the job.
All candidates must have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), be in agreement with the doctrine of the Nazarene church, agree to live within the mission and lifestyle values of NNU, and be willing to help advance the spiritual goals of the University
Preferred:
Associates Degree (AA) in Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related field.
Experience working with the general public or in a college or university setting.
Compensation
Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
