We are seeking a Physical Security Officer to join our Bank Facilities team located at our Southern Operations Center in Tacoma, WA.
The physical security officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of the bank's physical security and safety programs, ensuring the protection of personnel, facilities, and assets, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory guidelines.

$83,370.00 - $104,213.00- $125,055.00 annually
The Role at a Glance:
Acts as the primary contact for physical security related vendors and manages those relationships on behalf of the bank, which includes, selection, maintenance, and testing of appropriate intrusion devices, alarms and cameras that record activity and warn of potential threats.
Manages the inventory of the Heritage Bank equipment for re-deployment held at 3rd party security warehouse.
Develops and manages building card access security systems, new equipment installations, movement of safe deposit boxes, and provides budget and insurance recommendations for security for all bank buildings.
Develops, implements and maintains physical security procedures and processes for all bank locations. Ensures plans to reduce and/or eliminate premises liability issues, site analysis and threat assessment documentation is up to date and effectively in place.
Partners with the bank's branches, departments and division managers, ensuring that the institution's employees, customers, and facilities are protected.
Partners with department/division managers to design security components for operations and other strategic processes and supervises the development and implementation of required security reporting devices and processes at all levels.
Partners with law enforcement to investigate all suspected internal and external criminal violations, suspicious incidents and policy violations that may become physical security issues.
Develops, administers, and delivers physical security training programs for all staff members, to include specialized training programs for executives, managers and field employees.
Conducts continual audits and surveys of all bank buildings to determine the need for additional physical security services and make appropriate recommendations.
Establishes and maintains satisfactory partnerships within the bank and will liaison with law enforcement agencies at all levels and geographical areas where employees and customers are located. Maintains files for each location regarding available resources, emergency services and agencies available.
Partners with manager to prepare and submit a Physical Security Program evaluation for the compliance report for the Board of Directors, on an annual basis, and/or as requested.
Acts as primary point of contact and directly handles issues related to robberies, bomb threats, fires, accidents, or other related security, safety or business disruption issues related to bank buildings; acts as a liaison between Bank personnel and state and federal law enforcement authorities.
Provides direct reports with proper tools and authority to execute their assigned functions. Develops skills of staff through goal-setting, coaching, problem resolution, delegation, training, counseling, and performance management.
Works collaboratively with management and Human Resources and recommends staffing levels and approves personnel actions such as hiring, terminations, promotions, transfers, training and development of staff, timely performance reviews and salary increases, in accordance with legal and acceptable Bank personnel practices.
Partners with Internal Audit, Compliance, and Risk teams to evaluate the effectiveness of physical security controls, policies, and procedures, and implement corrective actions where needed.
Collaborates in partnership with management and serves as the senior authority on security system design, installation, and lifecycle management, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and emergency communication systems.
Participates in and/or leads special projects, as assigned by manager or executive leadership team in alignment with the bank's strategic and operational goals.
Maintains proficient knowledge of, and ensures bank activities are performed in compliance with, all state and federal banking laws and regulations applicable to areas of responsibility.
Ensures Bank activities are performed in compliance with the Bank's Policies and Standards, in partnership with Enterprise Risk Management and other internal banking partners.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
H.S. Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree Business, Criminal Law, Security or relevant discipline preferred
5+ years recent and progressive experience in a physical security management role within a financial institution or similarly regulated environment, which includes oversight of enterprise-wide security programs, risk assessments, and compliance with applicable banking and safety regulations required.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Associate Protection Professional (APP), or Certifies Protection Professional (CPP) preferred.

Monitor intelligence and threat information, both open source and confidential, to determine appropriate response and mitigation.
Monitor non-security systems and provide notification to other departments as needed.
Write, review, and approve incident reports.
Assist individuals with access badge and facility key issues.
Process public records requests, internal records requests, and customer complaints.
Maintain issued uniforms and equipment in good operating condition.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
The Facility Safety and Security Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals, staff, and visitors. This role provides professional front-line security presence at facility entrances, welcomes and greets guests with warmth and respect, ensures adherence to safety protocols, and responds to incidents calmly and effectively. While the primary focus is on security functions, the Coordinator also brings the perspective of lived experience in recovery, using empathy and understanding to support a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented environment.
* Monitor entrances, exits, and facility grounds to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
* Support efforts to reduce the need for seclusion or restraint by building rapport and trust.
* Share lived recovery experience, when appropriate, to provide encouragement and inspire hope.
* Foster therapeutic alliances by modeling respect, dignity, and recovery-oriented behavior.
* Attend trainings, maintain required certifications, and participate in safety/security drills.
* Safely and effectively perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques, ensuring the safety and dignity of individuals and staff.
* Assist in crisis situations with calm, clear communication and peer-based support.
* Use trauma-informed, non-coercive interventions to de-escalate individuals in distress.
* Ensure adherence to facility policies regarding visitor access, contraband, and security screenings.
* Document all incidents accurately and completely in incident reports and electronic systems.
* Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, incidents, or disturbances.
* Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas to maintain a secure environment.
* Warmly welcome and greet individuals, staff, and visitors while fostering a safe and respectful environment.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of providing a safe, recovery-oriented environment.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques in alignment with facility policies and training standards.
* Lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress or emergency situations.
* Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or behavioral health setting
* Commitment to trauma-informed practices and recovery principles.
* The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company's exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment.

What You'll Do:
Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, following site-specific policies, and engaging in emergency response activities when appropriate.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
Observe and report any security-related irregularities, including property damage, unusual occurrences, or unauthorized persons.
Communicate with Allied Universal management and site personnel regarding security-related matters and incidents.
Document all activities, incidents, and irregularities according to site and Allied Universal protocols.
Support a secure environment for personnel and visitors by maintaining a visible presence and following established procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
