Security Officers support the institution in maintaining a safe and secure environment in which to live learn, and work. The Security Officers will patrol the campus premises including college buildings, and property, and patrol parking lots to ensure their security; check incoming and outgoing traffic on campus; regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic; check all automobiles on college property for proper parking as well as parking permits; detect and deter crimes or violations of college regulations; provide information about Wiley College to students, staff, and the general public; and provide security for college events. This position will be supervised by the Kilgore College Chief of Police and will work cooperatively with the KCPD patrol officers. Campus safety officers will be primarily stationed on the Kilgore or Longview campus, but may serve in other areas as needed. A Court Security Officer (CSO) is a specialized security position providing protective services at or around United State Federal Court Houses or other areas as assigned under a contract to the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS). CSO's in this classification generally provide security services under some limited supervision from a Lead CSO and the District Supervisor who reports to the Contract Manager (CM). The CSO position is able to perform a variety of fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols while maintaining situational awareness and making decisions and/or taking actions consistent with established post orders, facility rules, guidelines and protocols. Duties may include work in austere and uncomfortable conditions for prolonged periods of time, including periods of inclement weather, while performing walking, standing, searching, and surveillance or sitting duties essential to the performance of the security functions.
