Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

Responsibilities
* Defend self and others from unauthorized use of non-deadly force using departmentally trained techniques as necessary, including but not limited to the use of pepper spray and handcuffs
* Patrol University property to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, theft, and life safety concerns and maintain safety during Campus events. This includes making regular inspection tours of campus noting unusual occurrences and ensuring all necessary doors and buildings are properly secured
* Monitor persons in buildings and/or on campus. Watch for unauthorized persons, suspicious/criminal activity, disturbances, fights and campus policy violations, report to proper authorities
* Investigate suspicious activity, security issues, and criminal incidents. Gather and process necessary evidence and properly document in verbal and written reports
* Respond to campus disturbances (i.e. disorderly conduct, underage drinking parties, illicit drug use) and complete room searches as necessary
* Respond to campus emergencies including critical incidents, all hazards situations and active threat situations (i.e. active shooter, bomb threat, mental health, weather emergencies)
* Contact the on-call supervisor as needed for emergency situations
* Maintain complete awareness of the University of New England property, life safety systems, and emergency plans including the proper use of fire extinguishers
* Respond to accidents and medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, Narcan and/or Stop the Bleed as necessary
* Contact local police and fire departments as necessary and act as a liaison between these agencies and the University as needed

Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:

Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.

We are seeking professional Airport Security Officers to support operations at Portland International Jetport (PWM). Respond to elevator malfunctions, emergency call boxes, and assist with building evacuations.

Enforce airport policies including smoking restrictions, curbside parking, and access control rules.
Provide crowd management and assistance to passengers during peak travel times.
Support TSA and airport staff during special events or VIP movements.

Performs security effort across the campus - monitoring of security systems/alarms/telephones and radios. Responds to requests for assistance including door unlocks, escorts, security system overrides, granting access permissions on security systems
Maintains Basic First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certifications and renders aid when needed.
Qualifications:
Previous security experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent, college coursework or associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or other emergency response discipline preferred.
Ability to read and record security control systems and alert personnel/management of critical/unusual situations.
Successful proven record of written and oral communication skills sufficient to permit clear and effective exchange of information.
Ability to remain calm during emergencies and critical events - Ability to multi-task and perform duties under pressure and in stressful situations.
The ability to use appropriate judgment and decision-making skills necessary to carry out all required security procedures without supervision is essential.
Demonstrated team player with professional, positive attitude and willingness to be flexible.
Regular, reliable and consistent attendance in accordance with departmental and Laboratory guidelines.
Valid driver's license.
