About this position The Lead Security Officer works under the supervision of the Supervisor and Manager, Safety & Security and is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, team members and medical staff. In addition, the lead is responsible for the direction and coordination of functions, personnel and activities of the department. North Memorial Health - Maple Grove Hospital, Safety & Security Department Requirements Education • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. • Post-secondary education in security, law enforcement, or criminal justice program preferred. Experience • Must have one of the following: • 3+ years providing direct customer service utilizing conflict resolution skills on a daily basis. • 2+ years having direct patient contact in a level I trauma center in an emergency department setting. • 2+ years demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict in a positive manner. • 1+ years of law enforcement and/or military experience, with confrontational situations preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Ability to build and sustain positive working relationships in the organization. • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. • Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English. • Basic computer knowledge required. As the Security Officer your main responsibilities would be monitoring and protecting hospital patients, employees, guests and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime and detecting and detaining violators of the law. Must become certified in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, VISTELAR and CEW (conducted energy weapon/Taser), as well as experience the effects a Taser within 6 months of hire. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
