The Security Guards are responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of a company's employees, visitors, and associated property. Required to patrol, respond to safety and security threats, and establish a security presence. Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and/or stooping. * Communicate via radio, telephone or orally with local Global Security Management to report incidents/emergencies/potential safety situations. * Be alert for potential security, property or safety concerns and initiate appropriate actions including notification to Global Security management and/or local law enforcement. * Must be physically able to restrain suspicious person(s)/trespassers in lieu of armed force if possible. * Prepares reports of incidents/resulting actions and records in Global Security (SWORD) database. Breadth of Responsibility: Position is responsible for assisting in the safety and protection of American Express employees, contractors, visitors and customers on company premises. During emergency situations, must be able to respond quickly and decisively while ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of others. Must remain alert for any irregularities, safety hazards, premise breaches or emergency situations and report to Global Security management for resolution. Minimum Qualifications: * Must be eligible to carry a firearm under H.R. 218, the "Law Enforcement Officers' Safety Act" (LEOSA). * Must be eligible to obtain a G and D license upon starting in role. * Law enforcement experience required. * Proficiency in firearms usage and safety is required. * Must be able to meet or exceed minimum proficiency and safety standards for firearms. Must meet all applicable state, county, city and local municipality licensing and permit requirements for an armed Security Officer. * Must successfully complete an annual firearms requalification course at a Global Security approved firing range. * Knowledge of discrete defense tactics. * Must satisfactorily pass initial and annual medical examinations. Applicant must have binocular vision and must not test less than 20/20 (Snellen). Corrected vision must not test less than 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other eye. Security ensures the highest possible level of service is being offered to residents, guests, and service providers. Security is responsible for meeting, greeting, and registering guests and residents, as well as maintaining the safety of the property. Security accurately maintains daily logs, records, and forms. They must be able to understand and react to emergency situations and operate electronic security control systems. Security reports to the Security Supervisor. #INDHR Your Responsibilities: * Demonstrates excellent customer service, communication, and time management skills. * Monitors and operates Electronic Security Control Systems and Emergency Response Systems. * Responds to emergency situations in a timely manner. * Monitors and controls access to the building. * Accurately maintains daily logs, records, and forms. * Maintains a safe and secure environment throughout the building/property. * Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment. * Works shifts that are subject to change based on property needs. * Needs to read and understand The Continental Employee Handbook/Security Standard Operating Procedures. * Attends Security / Front Desk staff meetings. * May be assigned other duties by the on-site Community Association Manager. Skills & Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalency required. * College level courses in business or hospitality preferred. * Must possess strong customer service background. * Two (2) to three (3) years of business experience in a similar position preferred. * Command of information system hardware/software is required. Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Multiple language fluency is desirable. * Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift 30 - 50 lbs. * Work in an upright, standing, or sitting position for long periods of time. * Handle, grasp, and lift objects and packages. * Reach with hands and arms. * Communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word. * Ability to navigate the building/property quickly and easily as required to meet the job functions. * Complete all required forms. * Ability to work extended hours and weekends based on building requirements. * Ability to respond to emergencies and callouts in a timely manner.
