The Public Safety Communications Officer I serves as the first line defense in emergencies by providing critical support to residents and visitors in distress. This position is responsible for receiving, processing, transmitting and conveying public safety information to dispatchers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical services and emergency management personnel based on the caller's location and the nature of the call, all while utilizing computer computer-aided dispatch (CAD), radio systems, and maintaining detailed call logs; essentially acting as the crucial communications link between the public and first responders within St. Lucie County. Call Handling:
* Handle multiple calls and tasks simultaneously, prioritizing critical incidents and responding to requests from public safety teams.
* Operate communication equipment, including radio systems, telephones, computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software, and other tools necessary for effective communication.
* Follow established protocols and procedures for dispatching, handling emergencies, and ensuring compliance with public safety standards and regulations.
* Receive and prioritize emergency calls (911) and non-emergency calls, accurately gathering information and assessing the situation to determine appropriate response actions and prioritize based on urgency and severity, ensuring rapid response to life-threatening situations.
* Provide advice and guidance to callers who are in danger or need immediate assistance, while emergency responders are enroute.
* Handle non-emergency requests from the public, including directing individuals to appropriate resources or providing information related to public safety services.

Dispatching Services:
* Determine the appropriate response units (police, fire, and EMS) based on the nature of the emergency and dispatch the units, ensuring timely and appropriate resources are sent to the scene.
* Monitor the progress of dispatched units and provide updates as needed.
* Maintain continuous communication with public safety personnel, providing real-time updates, information, and ensure proper closure of incidents.
* Coordinate emergency response efforts with other public safety agencies and outside organizations (e.g., utility companies, hospitals).
Data Entry and Recordkeeping:
* Document all calls, incidents, and activities accurately and completely for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
* Accurately enter incident information into computer systems, ensuring that all calls and actions are documented properly for legal and operational purposes.
Protocols and Procedures:
* Follow established guidelines and procedures for handling emergency calls and dispatching units.
* Demonstrate comprehension of general liability concepts and terms as well as a comprehension of specific liability issues associated with the position including the most notable areas of litigation in public safety communications.
* Adhere to applicable local, state, tribal or federal statutes or codes as appropriate.
* Comprehension and application of the division's confidentiality policies and rules regarding the discussion or release of information acquired in the workplace to the public, the media, or others.
Shift Work:
* Work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as 24/7 emergency services are required.
* Work schedules include 12 hour rotating shifts and can include up to 16 hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and well-being of all members, guests, and employees at the Club. The Security Officer is responsible for deterring, detecting and responding to potential or active threats directed at members, guests, employees, and property. The Security Officer must be prepared to act accordingly within the guidelines set forth by the Club Security Department policy. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe and secure residential and working environment for all members, guests and employees by identifying, treating, and reducing threats and workplace risks.
Conduct quarterly proficiency and development training to include quarterly firearm qualification, tactics training, as well as monthly sustainment training.
Maintain the training standards which include Use of Force knowledge and application, firearm application, Defensive Tactics, mechanical restrains, search procedures, expandable batons, OC Spray and application, crisis management and emergency response.
Ability to conduct a seamless entry for all authorized individuals into property.
Prevent unauthorized access to the property and use of its facilities.
Providing a medical response capability to members, guests and employees while on club property.
Investigate and respond to any significant incidents or incidents requested by the Security Operation Center (SOC).
Providing emergency management advice in the event of a natural disaster event.
Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
Remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
Enforce the club's health and safety policies to all members, guests, and employees.
Maintaining the personal “concierge” security approach for all members, guests, and employees while on property.
Become versed in Use of Force application as dictated by the company's Use of Force policy.
Effectively manage Use of Force incidents; limiting liability, minimizing disruptions, and preventing member, guest, and employee injuries.
Skills & Qualifications:
Prior experience in Armed Security, Law Enforcement, or Military or equivalent (4 years minimum).
Prior experience and training with relevant firearms and defensive tactics.
Valid Florida Driver's License.
Valid D & G License.
Clear Criminal Background.
High school diploma, GED, or higher education.
Must be able to work and stand inside/outside during all weather conditions.
Able to physically restrain individuals when the condition to detain exists.
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with a working knowledge of basic computer functions and programs (Word, Excel, Outlook Email, etc.)

* Monitor security systems to detect any suspicious activity
* Document observed events and incidents, writing detailed reports
* Respond quickly to incidents or potential threats
* Conduct regular patrols to ensure the safety of the premises
* Control access to secure areas and verify the identities of visitors
* Analyze security systems to identify potential vulnerabilities or malfunctions
* Collaborate with law enforcement in case of serious situations or emergencies

Qualifications of a Surveillance SecurityGuard
* Be authorized to work in the U.S.
* Be able to provide documentation of High School Diploma or GED
* Be able to ace (and pass) an extensive screening process
* Strong report writing skills
* Sharp visual activity and exceptional concentration skills
* Strong proficiency with technology

Overview
The Public Safety Officer reports to the Security Manager. In this role, you will assist the Security Manager. This position operates under direct supervision and mentorship of the Security Manager.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00.

This position will remain open until March 13, 2026.
Responsibilities
Provide assistance for all activities involved in facility and event security.
Perform crowd management and control techniques; Assist with police and fire rescue.
Remain calm in emergency response situations which could be life threatening.
Understand the organization and operation of convention center and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Assist in general duties of public safety, theft deterrence and loss prevention.
Building, parking lot, and safety inspections as assigned by the manager.
Monitor fire safety equipment; surveillance equipment; card access equipment.
Ability to work security check-points and other posts plus traffic assistance.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by manager
Ability to reach, grasp, walk, bend, stoop and stand for long periods.
Lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
Ability to work indoors & outdoors as needed, under varying climates in facility locale.
Ability to talk and hear; must be able to frequently communicate with internal and external clients; must be able to exchange information accurately in all situations.
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in law enforcement or security services.
Relevant experience working in a first class public assembly environment is preferred.
Qualifications
Security D License a plus.
Possess unrestricted Florida Drivers License.
Possess, or ability to obtain, appropriate FloridaSecurity License.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certificate.
Possess demonstrable experience with the characteristics, services and activities of public facility security and safety programs.
Verifiable similar experience in a large, service oriented environment.
Working knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and internet use.
Read, speak, write and comprehend the American English language.
Major course work in law enforcement, public/business administration or a related field.
