Responsibilities
* Be alert and awake during scheduled shifts; scheduled shifts are generally 7:00pm to 3:30am but can change subject to business needs.
* Patrol designated areas (dormitory, adjacent parking lot, gazebo) to deter and detect unauthorized activity.
* Inspect doors, windows, gates, and other access points for security compliance.
* Monitor for hazards (fire risks, leaks, unsecured areas) and report promptly.
* Respond to emergencies by contacting National Park Service or emergency services as needed.
* Sound alarms or initiate emergency protocols when required.
* Document all incidents, disturbances, and irregularities in shift reports; submit reports before end of shift.
* Provide support to dormitory residents (e.g., lockouts, general inquiries).
* Warn and document rule infractions; escalate serious issues to appropriate staff.
* Follow Company and departmental environmental and safety practices, policies, and procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Previous security or monitoring experience is strongly preferred.
* Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
* Ability to learn and use the Incident Reporting software and prepare incident reports and daily shift reports.
* Ability to capture relevant factual information in order to properly complete reporting requirements.
* Possess strong decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to remain calm and make sound decision under pressure.
* Must have or able to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification through the American Heart Association.
* Willing to "pitch-in" and help the team with tasks.
* Must be a positive team player with flexible schedules who like to have fun and have the passion to work.
Physical Requirements include:

Essential Functions:
Patrols the OHC buildings and ground to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and property by deterring crime and prohibited activities, and to protect them from events such as accidents, fire, theft, or intrusion.
Monitor surveillance cameras and inspects OHC property.
Contacts law enforcement or the fire department in case of an emergency.
Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property and safely intervenes as necessary.
Assists with the removal of any unauthorized persons by verbally or physically notifying them or by reasonably detaining the persons suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives.

Escorts personnel to and from parking lot as requested or in emergent conditions.
Monitors OHC vehicles to identify number and location. Monitors other vehicles parked in restricted parking areas, such as fire hydrants, or in driveways or entrances, handicapped, CHR parking, and monitors traffic flow on compound.
Assure that all unoccupied offices are locked during non-duty hours.
Respond when summoned via overhead page, cellular phone, or radio to assist staff with
belligerent or dangerous staff, patients, or visitors.
Respond to announcements of disaster, fire, bomb, tornado, or any code as outlined by OHC Policy.
Assure that all exterior hospital doors remain locked during the hours where services are not
available.
Conduct monthly street light check, reporting outages in the monthly report.
Control access to identified sensitive areas in the hospital and outlying buildings according to OHC standards.
Participate with buildings and grounds in fire drills, extinguisher checks, disaster drills, and traffic control.
Participate in quality improvement activities when requested by hospital committees.
Assist with emergency housekeeping duties (i.e., mopping, wiping ER table in absence of
Housekeeping Staff when requested.
Respond to trouble alarms when Building and Grounds personnel are not present.
Secure weapons or firearms from patients, visitors, or staff according to OHC's policy.
Maintain prompt, courteous, culturally sensitive services to hospital staff, visitors, patients and community.
Submits written log of daily activities and prepares written reports of all unusual situations and conditions encountered.
Reports fires, accidents, hazards, and any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing, and electrical systems immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
Performs related duties as assigned.

How You Will Make an Impact
Perform inmate head counts, cell checks, and searches. Monitor, log, and supervise inmate movement, recreation, visitations, cleaning, laundry, and security checks. Receive and release inmates by completing paperwork, fingerprinting, photographing, data entry, and conducting checks for outstanding warrants, protection orders, etc. Log and manage inmate property, money, and supplies. Exercise appropriate use of force and self-defense tactics to restrain disorderly inmates and deescalate volatile situations.
