GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Performs responsible protective service work maintaining security and safe environment at a school; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. School security personnel are often "First Responders" and are often the first to arrive at disruptive and combative situations involving students with injuries or needing medical care. This is a full-time position. Training is mandatory and lasts five(5) weeks, Monday through Friday. Attendance for all training days is required. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide physical security for the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, which might be susceptible to theft, fire, sabotage, or unauthorized entry, responding as directed in the event of incidents affecting security integrity of facilities. Licensed for 220 beds, SOVAH Health - Martinsville, is a full service, acute-care hospital providing over 22 medical specialties. Duties will include general patrolling, event documentation, and operation of the in-house access control system. Position will have every other weekend off. How you'll contribute A Security Officer II who excels in this role: Performs proactive monitoring of and timely response to potential/actual security threats. Investigates and manages all security incidents and hazards on premises. Facilitates planned drills and simulations. Maintains knowledge and adheres to policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. Responds to emergency calls. Assists nursing staff in managing patient situations requiring heightened safety measures. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of hire. Must complete Handle with Care program within 90 days of hire.
