Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Conduct scheduled patrols throughout the Museum buildings and exterior, including non-museum property surrounding the premises, on foot, by golf cart, or bicycle for officers with bike patrol certification. (Ex. parking lots, surrounding grounds.) o To guard and protect persons and property for conditions that could lead to loss of life or property. o Inspect buildings for open doors or windows, damage, safety hazards, and faulty mechanical problems. * Report all pertinent data of actions taken or observations gathered during premises tours, in writing and/or verbally as directed. * Ensure compliance with Museum's policies by conveying rules and safety regulations to the public and staff as needed. * Effectively use radio communication to clearly and concisely communicate with other officers and relevant staff. * Monitor the surveillance system from the control room and coordinate officer responses to alarms/incidents. * Provide excellent customer service to the public and museum staff in giving directions and answering questions by leading with a pleasant and approachable demeanor. * Assist other officers as needed to minimize response time, and maximize efficiency and effectiveness of service to the public and staff during times of need. Additional Duties/Responsibilities: * First Aid: Administer first-aid to visitors and staff. Requires the ability to kneel and bend down to assist. Notify 911 if necessary. * CPR: Notify 911 and administer CPR to visitors or staff when appropriate. Requires the ability to kneel and bend down to assist. Must maintain CPR certification. * Fire Safety: Notify 911, ensure the safe evacuation of visitors and staff, notify Engineering staff, and safely monitor the situation until the danger has cleared. Use extinguishers if safe and appropriate to do so. May conduct annual monthly checks of extinguishers, assist, escort and direct fire safety personnel, and set up and escort Halon system checks. * Maintain the office dispatch book with up-to-date materials and maps. * Work the garage ticket booth when St. Louis parking is not available. * Be flexible to assist the team in addressing the needs of the staff and/or public. This may include performing the duties of a Dispatcher or Gallery Attendant. * The department is a 24/7 operation, including night shifts. Security officers may be required to work overtime and/or cover additional shifts. Special Notes: Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and drug screening in accordance with the Professional Licensing Rules and Procedures of the St. Louis County Police Department. * After obtaining the proper license, Security officers are considered the first responders of the Museum, and have the power to arrest and detain in incidents occurring on SLAM property. These powers are in effect only while on duty and on the premises that you are paid to protect. * Security officers are required to carry aerosol pepper spray while on duty. All officers must be certified to do so by attending an approved pepper spray training course. All security officers carry handcuffs in order to detain as required. * Officers will be periodically required to train for the following: Traffic-control, active shooter, general safety. * Officers may be posted outside after dark, with or without other officers present. Outside posts are required of all officers, including during inclement weather. This is a physically active position that may require the following: * Must be able to stand for up to four hours at a time. Additional Information COMPETITIVE SELECTION PROCESS Under the regulations of the Police Department, all appointments to the St. Louis County Police Department are made on the basis of a continuously open, competitive hiring process conducted under the supervision of the Personnel Services Unit. A thorough background investigation will be conducted on all police applicants in the areas of past employment record and reputation, personal references, neighborhood reputation, police record check, credit history and military record (when applicable). The background investigation is concluded with a polygraph examination in an attempt to verify information received from and about the applicant. Results of the polygraph examination are confidential and will be considered with the applicant's total file. COMMANDER'S INTERVIEW: A further evaluation to determine the candidate's overall fitness for the position, including self-expression, mental alertness and suitability for police duties will be conducted by the Personnel Services Commander or a designee. Inspection must take place inside the catering facility or on the loading dock, and must be conducted to the extent permitted by local laws and hygiene standards. 9. Search the inside of the vehicles for weapons, explosives and other deadly or dangerous items just prior to loading catering carts. 10. Escort all catering carts from the time the monitoring/inspection is completed until the carts are loaded onto the transport vehicle. 11. After concluding the search and loading, close and seal all carts with tamper evident security seals. 12. The air carrier or representative meeting the carts at the aircraft will inspect the seal for signs of tampering prior to breaking it. 13. In the event a seal shows signs of tampering or are discovered broken, the suspect cart must be searched for weapons, explosives, and other dangerous devices prior to loading on aircraft. 14. All seals must be stored in a locked container and protected from unauthorized access. 15. Notify or ensure immediate Law Enforcement Officer and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator notification when necessary. 16. Ensure safe handling of dangerous or deadly weapons/objects discovered until arrival of the Law Enforcement Officer. 17. Contact Law Enforcement Officer if items of contraband (illegal items) are discovered during the screening process. Maintain control of items until arrival of the L.E.O. 18. Report all Government tests, real weapons, injuries and other major incidents to supervisor immediately. 19. Full-time Description A.T. Still University (ATSU) is actively seeking a full-time, non-exempt Campus Safety Officer - Supervisor to join our dedicated team on the St. Louis, Missouri campus. The Campus Safety Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of Campus Safety personnel who provide security for the University. This employee oversees all aspects of campus physical security to ensure the safety of students, patients, visitors, and employees. The Supervisor shall have the ability to work with all elements of the University and its various publics with a direct reporting relationship to the Director of Campus Safety. The position will assist the Director of Campus Safety in reporting all Clery Act requirements to ensure university compliance. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise daily operations of Campus Safety personnel and contracted Security Officers assigned to the site(s). Collaborate with University departments, internal/external partners, and stakeholders to support a comprehensive safety and security strategy. A.T. Still University (ATSU) is actively seeking a full-time, non-exempt Campus Safety Officer - Supervisor to join our dedicated team on the St. Louis, Missouri campus. The Campus Safety Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of Campus Safety personnel who provide security for the University. This employee oversees all aspects of campus physical security to ensure the safety of students, patients, visitors, and employees. The Supervisor shall have the ability to work with all elements of the University and its various publics with a direct reporting relationship to the Director of Campus Safety. The position will assist the Director of Campus Safety in reporting all Clery Act requirements to ensure university compliance. Duties and Responsibilities: * Supervise daily operations of Campus Safety personnel and contracted Security Officers assigned to the site(s). * Develop, implement, and monitor security procedures and protocols to safeguard University assets and individuals. * Collaborate with University departments, internal/external partners, and stakeholders to support a comprehensive safety and security strategy. * Assist the Director of Campus Safety in ensuring compliance with the Clery Act by preparing and submitting reports and supporting timely notification and disclosure requirements. * Conduct regular emergency drills and assessments of physical security infrastructure and recommend improvements or updates based on industry best practices. * Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and assist in resolving safety and security concerns. * Train, mentor, and evaluate Campus Safety/Security personnel to maintain professional standards and high levels of performance. * Represent the Campus Safety department in meetings, emergency planning sessions, and campus events as needed. * Serve as the on-site point of contact during safety incidents, emergencies, or drills while maintaining composure and decorum to deescalate situations. * Carry out additional responsibilities and special assignments as directed by the Director of Campus Safety. 2nd Shift Security Officer 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The Missouri Botanical Garden is seeking a full-time (Unarmed) Security Officer to join our team. The Security Team helps protect one of the most beautiful and respected Botanic Gardens in the country. In this role, you'll provide a visible presence while patrolling our buildings, grounds, and parking areas to ensure the safety of all staff, visitors and property, including during large-scale public festivals and events. This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, being comfortable with all seasons. Must be comfortable working on the Garden grounds around the general public, in a safe and friendly manner, answering questions regarding the Garden and its operations. What You'll Need For Success Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must have the ability to pass a background screening and motor vehicle report (MVR) to meet minimum insurance underwriting criteria. Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a security guard; public venue experience preferred. An equivalent combination of skills, education and experience may be considered Good understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety. Demonstrated ability to effectively write reports, construct emails and business correspondence using correct grammar/sentence structure, spelling, etc. Ability to obtain and maintain a security officer's licenses (St. Louis City or County) within (2) months of hire date. Ability to obtain the following certifications within (2) months of hire date and renew annually is required: American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and the Garden's Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Exceptional time management skills, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively/clearly at all levels; must enjoy and feel comfortable interacting and working in close proximity to general public.
