Job Description
Upholds order, safety, and security within assigned areas in accordance with relevant rules, regulations, policies, and laws; complies with expectations; maintains relevant knowledge and skill through training and job performance.
Provides security for the Johnson County Courthouse, Justice Annex, and other Johnson County secured buildings; monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises; prevents unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas; conducts building and perimeter checks; checks doors and gates of entrances and exits to secure buildings to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Performs searches of employees or visitors to locate any contraband or unlawful items; operates x-ray machines, scanners and other detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas; operates surveillance equipment to detect suspicious or illegal activities; inspects and adjusts security systems, equipment, or machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering; receives or checks incoming items at point of entry, including loading docks.
Provides security at Board of County Commissioner meetings, court commitments, and other events; monitors access or flow of people to prevent problems; circulates among visitors and employees to preserve order and protect property; conducts tours of the courthouse; responds to security requests.
Responds to alarms and investigates disturbances; investigates illegal or suspicious activities; warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using weapons and/or force when necessary to maintain security; reports unsafe activities to supervisors; writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
Escorts individuals to vehicles; transports inmates to detention center; responds to emergencies, including medical emergencies, by administering basic first aid or by obtaining assistance from other emergency responders.
Job Requirements

Assists the Vice President of Finance & Operations and other PCC officials with investigation as required.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Escort/Transport MHDD Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge of skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the residents served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development, and possess the ability to assess and interpret data to identify age specific needs. Participates in Natural Work Teams and/or Quality Action Teams. The purpose is to provide quality patient care by fostering therapeutic relationships, assisting in active treatment and supporting the hospital in the pursuit of the LSH Strategic Plan.
Employees in this classification must be able to lift, transport, move or physically assist people receiving services either individually or with assistance. Employees must be able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly to accomplish these tasks and may occasionally be required to lift more than 40 pounds. In some instances, mechanical equipment may be provided to assist in lifting and moving people receiving services. Employees must have the physical strength necessary frequently push, pull, twist, bend squat, walk or stand for extended periods of time. Transporting people receiving services is also required, so walking, standing and sitting are essential to the job. Employees in this classification must also respond to aggressive resident behavior using specific techniques, which may at times include the use of physical restraint. Employees must be able to observe, hear, communicate and respond to people in distress. Employees in this classification may occasionally be required to work overtime, with shifts lasting up to a maximum of 16 hours per day. An employee in this classification escorts residents on the SPTP program to and from classes. Employee must be able to with stand frequent climbing of stair and stating longer than 10 minutes in one position.

Dispenses medications and notify physician of medical needs. Maintains the jail in a good clean order.
Book-In. Books in and processes inmates in and out of jail. Fingerprints and photographs inmates. Maintain accounting for prisoner money and possessions.
Transports. Transports and secures inmates to and from court, hospitals and doctor and other law enforcement agencies.
Administrative Tasks. Meets the public at the detention center and supervise visiting hours and AA meetings. Makes minor plumbing repairs, replace light bulbs and make adjustments to equipment.
