Provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large.
* Police Officers are the first line of defense for all faculty / staff / students / visitors on campus. Police Officers are to respond to emergencies in a safe manner and as quickly and as possible while exercising due care for everyone. Officers are expected to act quickly to protect life and stop persons causing harm to others.
* Develops partnerships with law enforcement and the community through community-oriented policing practices. Plans, directs, and coordinates law enforcement activities and programs to accomplish these partnerships. Provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or Equivalent.
State Security Officer License.
One year job related experience preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Basic computer skills required.
Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years of experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities. Certification by the Department of Public Safety, in accordance with Section 23-6-430 of the 1976 South Carolina Code of Laws. Physical Requirements: (Note: The following descriptions are applicable to this section: Continuous - 6-8 hours per shift; Frequent - 2-6 hours per shift; Infrequent - 0-2 hours per shift) Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time. (Continuous) Ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift, drag, pull persons to safety, weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted. (Infrequent) Ability to hear and recognize various sounds within noisy background areas. (Continuous) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision in both eyes, corrected. (Continuous) Ability to climb stairs to the top floor of any building within the institution. (Infrequent) Olfactory sense must be intact in order to smell unusual odors.
