The Public Safety Officer I is responsible for the safety of University students, staff and faculty members, visitors, and the campus and property of the University. Officers engage in proactive patrol, respond to calls for service, provide security at designated posts, provide shuttle service and medical escort transportation, enforce University policies including parking policies, and document incidents occurring on campus and/or involving members of the La Salle Community. The Junior level Security Specialist performs security and administrative management of assigned SCI and SAP. The Junior level Security Specialist considers all aspects of security, to include personnel security, physical security, operations security, communications security, and associated oversight. Duties & Responsibilities: The Junior Security Specialist shall provide daily support to the appointed Special Security Representative (SSR) or Government SAP Security officer (GSSO) to fully implement all applicable enhanced security policies and procedures. The Junior SS shall perform Visitor Control duties by greeting and documenting all visitors according to facility security procedures, including but not limited to customers, tour groups, base public works, inspectors, and maintainers. The Junior SS shall monitor and control access to facility(s) and restricted areas under their responsibility by checking personnel passes, Common Access Cards (CAC) and validating security clearances utilizing DISS or other security database systems and visit requests. The Junior SS shall maintain facility visitor logs. Prepare and process visit request documentation packages. Perform visitor escort duties for assigned facilities and events and support the coordination and training of additional escorts as required for each event. The Junior SS shall support document control and document configuration management activities. Support data entry and maintenance of a variety of security databases. The Public Safety Officer I is responsible for the safety of University students, staff and faculty members, visitors, and the campus and property of the University. Officers engage in proactive patrol, respond to calls for service, provide security at designated posts, provide shuttle service and medical escort transportation, enforce University policies including parking policies, and document incidents occurring on campus and/or involving members of the La Salle Community. The Office of Public Safety is a 24 hour/day, 365 day/year operation. Public Safety Officers are considered essential personnel and are assigned to an eight hour shift. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED . A minimum of three (3) years of work experience, at least one (1) of which must be in a customer service or public-facing industry. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES This is a substitute role- not for regular shifts, but rather for filling in when coverage is needed. * Security monitoring, patrol and respond to security problems. * Provide direct contact to the public at the main entrance and check identification of visitors entering the schools. * Positively represent the school and provide general assistance/information to visitors. * Monitor district buildings and grounds to protect against illegal entry, acts of violence, vandalism, illegal drug activity, arson, and theft. * Conduct regular inspection of windows, doors, and other at assigned point of entry to ensure that they are secure. * Monitor school grounds to observe unauthorized persons of vehicles, parking violations, and overall security of the outside area including exterior lighting and emergency access routes. * Detain unauthorized persons; call for administrative and/or police assistance in accordance with the district's security plan/crisis management plan. * Participate in the district's/school's emergency and crisis management plan as assigned. * Notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention. * Accompany students to the main office when needed.
