Your Role
As an APS Security Officer, you will:
Serve a variety of clients that range from managing access at office buildings, patrolling residential communities, or protecting construction sites and businesses from theft.
Conduct foot patrols and/or drive patrol vehicles to monitor assigned areas.

Regular working hours are 48 hours per week. Due to the nature of the proposed employment, the employee may work on different schedules on different days of the week as assigned by a supervisor and may also be required to work additional hours beyond scheduled time

We are seeking a Security Guard, 1st Shift to join our team. In this role, you will work to maintain a safe and secure environment for associates, visitors and company assets. The position will work closely with First Responders in administrating first aid and communicating and directing emergency personnel to site. The ideal candidate has proven surveillance skills and a working knowledge of security monitoring systems and emergency equipment.
A day in the office looks like this:
Monitor and control access at the employee entrances in part by checking for associate badges for all individuals entering the facility.
Validates individual's employment status and logs any associate without a company badge.
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling facility, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting doors and other points of entry to ensure that it's properly secured and locked.
Random patrol facility.
Observe for signs of theft and disorder and investigate disturbances or suspicious activity.
Prevent loss and damage by immediately reporting irregularities, directing visitors to main office entrance, ensuring adherence to facilities badge policy, preventing non-Lakeshore associates from entering the facility, etc.
Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls (BAF, Heater units, air exchange units).
Completes reports daily by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities.
Perform basic first aid and CPR as required.

8. Inspection must take place inside the catering facility or on the loading dock, and must be conducted to the extent permitted by local laws and hygiene standards.
9. Search the inside of the vehicles for weapons, explosives and other deadly or dangerous items just prior to loading catering carts.
10. Escort all catering carts from the time the monitoring/inspection is completed until the carts are loaded onto the transport vehicle.
11. After concluding the search and loading, close and seal all carts with tamper evident security seals.
12. The air carrier or representative meeting the carts at the aircraft will inspect the seal for signs of tampering prior to breaking it.
13. In the event a seal shows signs of tampering or are discovered broken, the suspect cart must be searched for weapons, explosives, and other dangerous devices prior to loading on aircraft.
14. All seals must be stored in a locked container and protected from unauthorized access.
15. Notify or ensure immediate Law Enforcement Officer and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator notification when necessary.
16. Ensure safe handling of dangerous or deadly weapons/objects discovered until arrival of the Law Enforcement Officer.
17. Contact Law Enforcement Officer if items of contraband (illegal items) are discovered during the screening process. Maintain control of items until arrival of the L.E.O.
18. Report all Government tests, real weapons, injuries and other major incidents to supervisor immediately.
19. Keep supervisor informed of needs and problems in assigned areas, maintain cleanliness of immediate work area and report maintenance needs.
20. Project a positive image and respond to inquiries from clients, staff and public in a courteous manner.
21. Attend meetings and in-services as required.
22. Utilize appropriate communications channels and maintain records, reports and files as required.
23. Must be in proper uniform or business attire as directed by company officials.
24. Identification badges must always be visible.
25. Adhere to company policies and procedures and participate in achievement of company objectives.

What Your Day May Look Like:
* Responds to all alarms, disturbances and incidents that may occur.
* Writes reports, send emails, and keep up with day-to-day operations.
* Show and maintain proficiency with responding to medical incidents and CPR/AED.
* Patrol interior and exterior of the premises.
* Serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions.
* Detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts or client rule infractions at or near assigned post which may be a threat to the property, employees, and visitors.
* Report all incidents, accidents and/or medical emergencies to Leadership.
* Follow procedures to respond to emergencies and alarms, such as medical incident, bomb threats, fire alarms or intrusions.

Position Requirements:
* 21 years of age or older.
* High School Diploma, GED, OR ability to complete the GED program within 6 months.
* Standard computer / technology skills needed.
* Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills a plus!!
* Must be able to interact with a wide range of individuals in a professional manner.
* Must have great attention to detail and remain vigilant throughout shift.
* Must be able to respond to emergencies with rapid / effective judgment and use appropriate escalation.
* All candidates must be willing to participate in the Company's pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
* 1-2 years of Security experience required.
* Must be fluent in English.
* Must have reliable transportation.
* Must come to work well rested and alert, on time, and complete shift assignments (including overtime, if assigned).
* Must have a neat, professional appearance and arrive at work dressed in complete and clean assigned uniform.
* Must have a friendly and professional demeanor and provide high quality customer service.
* Must be a good communicator (both verbal and written) and be capable of handling typical and crisis situations both efficiently and effectively.
* Must understand and successfully execute post orders including enforcement of client and company policies, rules, and regulations.
* Must be able to successfully complete CPR, First Aid, and AED training and certification.
Physical and Mental Functions:
1. Stand or walk (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, and carpet). 2. Be able to climb stairs and ramps. 3. Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties. 4. Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds. 5. Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain, or heat. 6. Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
