Scheduling Expectations The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex: You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment. Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need. You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs. The Fishers Police Department is accepting applications for the position of patrol officer. This position aims to provide ongoing police services to the citizens within the city limits of Fishers. This position is very complex and requires the officer to make decisions, take action, and perform processes frequently performed under extreme stress. The officer responds to dispatch calls covering areas where an officer might be needed. The officer receives these dispatch calls in the police car over a two-way radio. Only one officer is in a car. The types of situations an officer may need to respond to are varied. In addition, the officer patrols the City of Fishers general area and performs traffic enforcement duties. This activity is of an ongoing nature and is what the officer will generally do when not responding to calls from the dispatcher.
