This position offers a starting pay of $18.50/hr with weekly pay. Flex Officer Explanation The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company's operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers, while also protecting the health and work balance of our personnel. Scheduling Expectations The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex: You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment. Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need. You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs. Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week's schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift. This position is very complex and requires the officer to make decisions, take action, and perform processes frequently performed under extreme stress. The officer responds to dispatch calls covering areas where an officer might be needed. The officer receives these dispatch calls in the police car over a two-way radio. Only one officer is in a car. The types of situations an officer may need to respond to are varied. In addition, the officer patrols the City of Fishers general area and performs traffic enforcement duties. This activity is of an ongoing nature and is what the officer will generally do when not responding to calls from the dispatcher. Furthermore, the officer fulfills the administrative and judicial functions of the position and is required to attend all training functions sponsored by the department as ordered by a superior officer to improve or maintain his/her skills in a particular area.
