Security installer job description

· Climb ladders that extend up to 24 ft. in height

· Ability to work in extreme environments (i.e., hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, attic, basements, etc.)

· Physically able to climb, crawl, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, and work in small spaces

· Ability to work in a team environment

· Experience in new construction low voltage installation

RESPONSIBLITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

· Professionalism

· Customer Service Driven

· Install Residential and Commercial Security, Fire, Access Control, and CCTV Systems

· Run conduit and electrical wiring which can include drilling and trenching

· Complete all wiring, connections, and equipment installations ensuring that security systems are complete and satisfy customer

· Operate testing equipment

· Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure proper function

· Proper documentation of installation issues/actions/resolutions both internally and externally

· Pulling inventory for each installation job

· Pre assemble job components in warehouse

· Mounting hardware

· Running various wires (Fire wire, CAT5 Wire), may need to access attics and basements

· Clean up of job site after installation

· Practice safe work practices

· Attend staff meetings

SCHEDULE:

· Monday through Friday

· 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

· Overtime occasionally

· Full time position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Perform diagnostic evaluation of system issues and perform troubleshooting and repairs on low voltage security and home automation systems including cameras, thermostats, locks and more.

+ Install or upgrade new low voltage security and home automation systems inclusive of cameras, thermostats, door locks and more.

+ Must be flexible with schedule, s hift will be Tuesday through Saturday.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

+ Low voltage industry experience

+ Two or more years in a customer service industry role

+ Strong customer service communication and conflict resolution skills

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Previous experience with both hand and power tools (desired)

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)

+ Must qualify for applicable licenses / certificates

+ The ability to use hand tools, laptop, and tablet (required)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/ MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position includes primarily field work. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing. Lifting will include up to 40 pounds. Extensive use of a personal computer or tablet is required. Use of hand and power tools is required on occasion.

What you will do:
As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.
How you will do it:

• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, and loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify the schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of the supervisor.
• Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
• Tests operation of the system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Reads building, electrical, and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.
• Travel required, using provided company vehicle and equipment.

What we look for:
Required:

• A high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Some technical school training is a plus.
• Electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to always operate fleet vehicles in a safe manner.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.
• Preferred.

Preferred:

• NICET Certification.
• Access Control certifications.
• CCTV certifications.
• Experience bending conduit.
