Under supervision, a Public Safety Officer Recruit is expected to: Be punctual and on time to daily scheduled training, prepared to give 110% Participate in daily physical fitness schedule Attend one 40 hour week of Aircraft Rescue Firefighting training at Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, KY. Be prepared to report to the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond, KY to attend a 20 week basic police academy with rigorous physical fitness, academic and skill based learning. Major Duties and Responsibilities upon promotion from recruit status: Monitors radio, pager, and phones for calls for service and responds to aircraft, structural, HAZMAT, EMS, Law Enforcement and all other requests as directed. Proactively patrols the airport providing public safety visibility and takes appropriate action when needed. Conducts criminal investigation, arrests within the scope of Kentucky criminal law and attends court proceedings. Conducts recurrent training as determined by department leadership on subjects in all disciplines, including law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, and FAA Part 139. Good English language skills, including speaking, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Must have the ability to prepare and deliver effective oral and written reports and presentations. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with airport tenants, employees, stakeholders, and guests providing a high level of customer service in response to questions and inquiries. Ensure that all airport operations comply with FAR Part 139, TSR Part 1542, Airport Security Program (ASP), Authority's Rules and Regulations, and other applicable federal, state, and local statutes and regulations. Conduct identification media checks and audits, complete checks of physical security access points, maintain random patrols of security areas, and assist Airport Operations as requested. Respond to emergency and non-emergency related incidents upon request and properly document the occurrence. Employment Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must pass pre-employment physical/stress and medical examinations. Must not have been convicted of a felony or have any criminal actions actively being prosecuted. Must be vaccinated for Hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunity, or have signed a declination form within ten (10) days of initial assignment. Must pass initial and semi-annual physical fitness test to maintain employment. Ability to successfully complete the DOCJT Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) hiring standards. Maintain annual firearm qualifications and other recurrent training standards required by regulation and law. Firefighting and EMS training or related military occupation experience preferred. Outstanding interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. Proficient in using computers and records management systems.
