Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.

BENEFITS
A full-time employee is one who works more than thirty (30) hours per week on a regularly scheduled basis. The Kenton County Police Department offers annual incentives for officers trained as medical first responders ($1,250 per year).
The Kenton County Police Department is currently accepting applications to create an eligibility list for entry level police officers.
You will receive an email from the agency after the closing date confirming whether you meet the minimum requirements to take the test and remain in the process. When the testing date and location has been established you will receive an email to which you will have to RSVP. An additional email will be sent out as a reminder of the date, time and location of the test site.
All examinations will be scored immediately following the test, and those applicants who receive a minimum score of seventy (70) percent will be invited to complete the physical fitness test shortly after the conclusion of the written test. No applicant will be permitted to take the physical fitness test without first receiving a passing score on the written examination.
This is skilled and responsible work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. An employee in this class is responsible to maintaining law and order, for protecting life and property, and for performing other police related activities including patrol, criminal investigation, and crime prevention. Duties are performed under standard to general supervision.
Required Education/Work Experience
At the time of application, applicants for the position of police officer shall possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of work experience, or sixty (60) semester hours of credit from an accredited college or university, or be a high school graduate with at least two (2) years of active military duty or two (2) years of experience as a full-time, sworn law enforcement officer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Training and/or Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) and ability to be certified by Kentucky Peace Officers Professional Standards.
Knowledge: Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, administrative regulations and ordinances. Knowledge of modern police principles, practices and methods. Knowledge of the geography of the City.
