    Security Officer Department: Venue Operations - Security Reporting Relationship: Manager - Venue Security Status: Full Time (Non -Exempt) The Venue Security Officer is responsible for supporting the overall safety and security of the facility, its employees, and guests. This role is responsible for ensuring a secure environment and reactive duties to address incidents. The Officer is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets while enforcing safety protocols. Primary Responsibilities Assist with the overall safety and security of the venue and its employees and guests. Admit and screen staff, suppliers, contractors, and visitors into the facility using daily logs and identification badge systems. Ensure all visitors and employees follow security policies and regulations including enforcing parking rules, visitor badge policies, and restricted area access. Screen individuals entering the facility using walkthrough metal detectors, handheld wands, and visual inspections, verifying credentials and ensuring compliance with venue security protocols. Perform thorough vehicle checks at designated entry points, verifying parking privileges and inspecting for prohibited items or suspicious activity. Utilize X-ray machines and other scanning technologies to inspect bags, packages, and personal belongings for unauthorized or dangerous items, ensuring safe entry into the venue. Monitor CCTV and other surveillance systems to ensure perimeter security. Provide a high level of security in accordance with NFL/MLS best practices and Standard Operating Procedures. Provide protective measures against fire, theft, accidents, trespassing, and property damage. Create accurate and detailed reports of any incidents, accidents, or unusual activities that occur during a shift. Provide breaks for other officers on duty as needed. Performing routine checks to identify potential hazards, such as faulty equipment, blocked fire exits, or slippery floors. Secure or unlock designated areas based on operational needs. Assist staff and guests during emergencies to ensure the orderly and safe movement of people. Monitor facility parking lots and perimeter for unauthorized access or suspicious activity. Alert management to any safety or security concerns in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned to support venue operations and security. Minimum Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management, or equivalent experience. Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or venue operations preferred. 2+ years of experience in physical security, facilities protection, or a related role. Ability to operate and monitor CCTV and other surveillance systems. Experience with access control systems and digital logging tools. Skills for Success Strong understanding of physical security principles and threat prevention. Clear and professional verbal communication with staff, visitors, and contractors. General Definition and Conditions of Work An employee in this class independently performs a full range of law enforcement duties in the areas of community policing, traffic, investigation, and patrol duties. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. * Operates a patrol vehicle; observes people for violations of laws, suspicious activities, or disturbances of law and order, and responds with appropriate enforcement action. * Assists in processing crime scenes, investigates, and follows up on crimes committed. * Conducts field testing of controlled substances. * Performs duties as a field training officer by training, evaluating, and supervising new recruits for extended periods of time; prepares field training documentation. * Monitors and operates the radio; dispatches officers; monitors public service and 911 as needed. * Effects an arrest, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdues resisting suspects using maneuvers and other approved weapons in self-defense as necessary. * Prepares investigative and other reports, including sketches, using appropriate grammar, symbols, and mathematical computations. * Exercises independent judgement in determining when there is reasonable suspicion to detain, when probable cause exists to search and arrest, and when force may be used and to what degree. * Operates a law enforcement vehicle both day and night, potentially in emergency situations involving speeds in excess of posted limits, in congested traffic, and unsafe road conditions. * Gathers information in criminal and administrative investigation by interviewing and obtaining the statements of victims, witnesses, suspects, and confidential informers. * Pursues fleeing suspects and performs rescue. * Loads, unloads, aims, and fires handguns, shotguns, and other agency firearms from a variety of positions, under conditions of stress that justify the use of deadly force and at levels of proficiency prescribed in certification standards. * Detects, collects, preserves, and stores evidence and substances that provide the basis of criminal offenses and infractions and that indicate the presence of dangerous conditions. * Personnel may be assigned to various positions such as: K-9, Traffic, SRO, Crime Reduction Team, Housing, Crime Prevention, Community Policing, or any other specialized position. * Performs other duties as assigned. Under the general supervision of a Shift Sergeant, the officer will engage in proactive and responsive measures to ensure safety and security through a courteous, helpful, unbiased and professional manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Protective Services Routinely patrol campus and other properties under jurisdiction on foot, motor vehicles or other authorized bikes and transportation. Watch for unauthorized persons, suspicious or criminal activities, disturbances and violations through regular patrols and monitoring of camera systems Secure (lock and unlock) campus facilities per directives. Conduct security and safety checks and patrols of all buildings and campus grounds. Observe and report safety hazards to appropriate personnel and departments.
