Protective Service Officer - FPS MA - Pittsfield, MA Pay Rate: $34.32 per hour Objective This position is under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers, and all visitors. Essential Functions Read and understand the English language to effectively carry out applied printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly communicate in person or via electronic devices (telephone and radio) with co-workers and the general public. The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for Firm Partners, employees, clients, guests and vendors. This role monitors and authorizes all incoming and outgoing traffic to protect persons and property against theft and vandalism at all times. The Campus Safety Officer provides safety services to the campus, ensuring security to the Emma property and maintaining a safe educational environment for students, staff and guests. The Officer will assess problem situations and exercise tact and judgment in bringing about their resolution individually or in conjunction with the school administration as appropriate. Responsibilities: Interact positively with campus community members on a daily basis and assist members in identifying potential safety and/or security issues. Represent Emma Willard School by providing professional and courteous assistance when answering incoming phone calls and receiving visitors on campus. Calls directed, and messages taken accurately with every effort taken to ensure that callers feel that they have been helped. Conduct vigilant patrols of campus and other school owned property on foot, cart, and/or motor vehicles. Provide excellent customer related services to students, staff, and visitors. Direct traffic as necessary; provide directions and other assistance to students, staff and visitors. Respond efficiently to all calls for assistance. Knowing when to make the proper notifications with other personnel, as well as Troy Police, and/or Fire Department. Conduct safety training; including fire drills, lock down drills and evacuation drills. Investigate all incidents during assigned shifts and maintain detailed and accurate reports. Ensure that activity logs are maintained and updated accurately. Monitor and manage campus cameras and door access systems. Observe safety hazards and promptly report them to appropriate persons, as well as responding to all security and fire alarms. Unlock/secure appropriate buildings/rooms and facilities as directed. Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Competencies: Must obtain and maintain a current NYS Security Officer license. On-site security officer training provided. Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license. Must be a strong collaborative team member. Have a good working knowledge of computer based door and camera monitoring systems. Have patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to manage priorities. Demonstrate superior judgment. Compensation $20.00 - $23.00 per hour based on education and experience. Part-time position available to NYS certified security guards or those able to obtain and maintain a NYS Security Guard license (or meet law enforcement requirements for an exemption) within 30 days of employment at Skidmore and possess a valid driver's license. Position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all members of the campus community in a customer service centric manner. Campus Safety Officers conduct safety training, engage in community outreach, respond to emergencies, render first-aid, investigate incidents, and document violations of law or policy. Involves vehicle and foot patrol, periodic dispatching and desk duties. Coverage is needed for all shifts including midnight shifts, evening and weekends. Responsibilities include campus security patrol, report writing and enforcing college's rules and regulations, conducting investigations and interacting with a diverse population.
