Just as the name implies, security secures premises and personnel by patrolling properties. You are expected to inspect buildings, equipment, access points, permit entry, and monitor surveillance equipment. As a security officer, you need to be more vigilant because you are responsible for completing reports by recording surveillance, observations, occurrences, and interviewing witnesses. You will also need to control traffic by directing drivers.

You also need to undertake preventive measures to take care of all the equipment by calling repairs, following manufacturer manuals, and evaluating new facilities. The basic skills required for a security officer are the ability to multitask, interpersonal relationships, good communication skills, a wide knowledge of security procedures, and the ability to follow complex instructions.
