Data Center Security Monitor

PAE is looking for security-minded and energetic individuals to start or extend their careers in national security. We work with customers in the Intelligence Community (IC) to provide vital mission support.

As a Security Monitor, you will be responsible for the security and integrity of the facilities. PAE will extensively train you on how to closely observe and surveil your surroundings and the activities of individuals working in and/or visiting sensitive facilities. With this training, you will contribute to the safety and security of your work environment and gain experience securing and surveying classified working areas and any sensitive documents.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Under direction and guidance from the Security Supervisor, is responsible for the operation of the Board of Education Master Alarm System (BOEMAS) security monitoring station during evening, night, Saturday, Sunday and holiday hours. During these hours is responsible for monitoring and coordinating security operations required to insure all Montgomery County School facilities are protected. The Security Supervisor, or higher authority, is contacted when matters of policy not previously established are encountered or when a security incident is of a nature that requires the attention of higher authority. Functional emphasis is on continuous monitoring of disparate types of security alarms installed within school property, identification of security incidents, determining the type and extent of actions required to expeditiously and effectively resolve problems encountered and coordinating the response of patrols, police, fire, and other agencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

This position requires knowledge of all of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) to include commitment to students, knowledge of job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem solving. Some knowledge, of the operation and monitoring of security/detection systems. Some knowledge of police, fire and_ public agency assistance services and procedures. Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of MCPS facilities, the BOEMAS, and operating procedures of the Montgomery County Fire and Police Departments. Ability to identify noises/sounds which may indicate a security, safety or related problem at an MCPS facility. Ability to exercise good judgment in carrying out duties. Ability to quickly and accurately comprehend messages/situations and to effectively communicate with others, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare basic reports. Good human relations skills. Good oral and written communications skills. Ability to work with students, teachers, school leadership staff, governmental and community members, demonstrating these core competencies described in the Supporting Services Professional Growth System: commitment to students, knowledge of job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication and organization skills, and problem solving competencies.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

Completion of high school and some responsible work experience, preferably in security law enforcement or a related area. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
