Position: Flex Security Officer
Flex Officers help cover call-outs, vacations, special events, and surge needs. This role requires open availability and an on-call mindset. Flex Officers must be able to report to different Ballast Security locations as needed and may be asked to work irregular, last-minute, or emergency shifts with only a few hours' notice.
Key Responsibilities
• Patrol and monitor assigned locations on foot or in a vehicle
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may present security concerns
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or incidents
• Enforce site rules, procedures, and access protocols
• Permit authorized individuals onto the property and monitor entrances/exits
• Observe departing personnel to prevent unauthorized removal of property
• Assist employees, visitors, and customers professionally and courteously
• Prepare clear written reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activity
• Maintain logs and documentation as required by the site
• Make emergency notifications according to post instructions
• Report to short-notice assignments as needed
Qualifications (Required)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have a valid Florida Class D Security License
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform patrols
• Must be available on-call and able to report to shifts with little to no advance notice

What You'll Do:
Provide excellent customer service by carrying out security-related procedures and following site-specific policies at the retail location.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm and problem-solving manner, assisting customers and staff as needed.
Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the store and surrounding perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify potential issues.
Observe and report any suspicious behavior, hazards, or incidents according to Allied Universal policies and client requirements.
Support emergency response activities by following established protocols and assisting first responders when appropriate.
Maintain a visible presence to help to deter theft, vandalism, and other undesirable behavior within the retail environment.
Communicate professionally with customers, employees, and law enforcement as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
A valid driver's license from the job state and must meet with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

This is a statewide advertisement for part-time OPS Correctional Officer to fill multiple vacancies. OPS Correctional Officers will be limited to no more than 25.5 hours per week.
ABOUT FDC:
The Florida Department of Corrections is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with over 150 facilities statewide and more than 22,000 staff members it's the state's largest agency. Becoming a correctional officer with FDC means you are joining a family of hardworking men and women who are dedicated to ensuring public safety throughout Florida.
Once you join the FDC, there are many career advancement opportunities that progress from entry level as a Correctional Officer to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major and Colonel. From there, management positions include Assistant Wardens and Wardens. Correctional Officers can join special teams such as Rapid Response Teams, Crisis Response Team, Interdiction Units, K-9 Units, and many other special team opportunities.
COMPENSATION: $22.00 Hourly
MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be certified as a Correctional Officer in Florida.
* Must have an active certification in good standing.
* Be at least 18 years of age (no age limit).
* Be a United States Citizen.
* Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Possess a valid driver's license.
* Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.

* Recently Retired? Effective July 1, 2024, there is no longer a reemployment limitation; on the 7th calendar month from the member's distribution date, there are no restrictions for working as a FRS employer.
