Ursinus College is seeking full-time Campus Safety Officers (CSOs) to work an assigned schedule which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate will be required to work special events, attend mandatory in-service training, and staff meetings, as well as be available for overtime when necessary.
Ursinus College CSOs are non-sworn, unarmed employees tasked with patrolling the 170-acre campus to discourage criminal behavior and interact with all members of the college community to promote a sense of well-being and security and enhance the quality of life on the Ursinus College campus.
Ursinus College CSOs are expected to be ambassadors for the college and provide exceptional customer service to all members of the college community. Responsibilities
Safeguard life and property, and interdiction of criminal activity through high visibility, vehicular, bike, and foot patrol on the campus
Respond to non-emergency and emergency situations, including alarms, lockouts, medical and mental health crises, and crimes in progress and summon municipal Police, Fire, and EMS assistance when required
Conduct initial investigations, collect witness statements, photograph scenes, and prepare and submit concise and comprehensive incident reports
Regulate campus vehicular and pedestrian traffic to enhance safety and expedite flow. Enforce college parking regulations
Identify, report, and resolve conditions and circumstances that are hazardous to people and property. Inspect buildings and properties for proper maintenance and working order
Secure and unlock campus buildings in accordance with schedules and procedures
Administer First Aid and CPR when necessary
Provide escorts and shuttle transportation to members of the campus community as assigned
Monitor surveillance camera system and perform dispatcher duties as part of normal duties
Maintain confidentiality of information
This position is a Campus Security Authority as designated under the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990
Requirements and Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and good work history required
Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and at least one year driving experience
Ability to operate a motor vehicle at night and in poor weather conditions
Proven computer literacy (Microsoft Office Word, Excel)
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills are required
Must be capable of passing a background investigation including criminal records check
Understanding of higher education setting and ability to work with persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds
Physical Demands:

Reviews and interprets Court orders, remands, and releases.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities
Provide a professional security presence at assigned client sites
Patrol premises, monitor access points, and report safety or security concerns
Complete accurate incident and daily activity reports via Belfry Software
Respond to emergencies and enforce site policies and procedures
Maintain communication with clients, supervisors, and fellow officers
Follow all company and site-specific security protocols
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred but not required
Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills
Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor
Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods and work in various environments
Valid driver's license and reliable transportion required
Flexible availability for shifts that vary by client needs
All candidates must pass a mandatory background check
Required to attend an in-person orientation prior to being scheduled for any shifts
Military veterans and active duty members receive an additional $0.25/hour bonus
Compensation
Starting Pay: Based on each client contract and will vary by site
Overtime: Paid for any hours over 40 hours per week, weighted according to applicable law
Full-Time (30+ hours/ week):
Paid Time Off: 24 hours earned after probationary period is satisfied

As a Signal SecurityOfficer, you will support our client by maintaining a safe and secure environment through:
Access control and accurate load management logging
Detailed reporting
Providing a professional security presence at the client's site
Supporting community safety through vigilance and visibility

Requirements
To be considered, candidates must:
Be 18+ years old
Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
