Responds to non-emergencies including wellbeing checks of residents, visitors and staff.

Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.

General Summary:

Essential Job Functions:
• Enforce the policies and procedures of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, to serve as a source of authority for enforcing Medical Center policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Perform on-foot patrols of Medical Center campuses as directed by the Director of Security or his/her designate. Report safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections; look for violations of the Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA and local Fire Code safety violations. Maintain constant communications with the Security Control Center.
• Assist clinical staff with psychiatric patient restraint; monitor and physically mitigating combative or potentially combative patients as directed, escort patients during clinical transport, and perform direct patient observation of patients under medical or psychiatric restrictions.
• Perform emergency response that includes but is not limited to immediate response to distress calls, panic alarms and emergency calls, fire and disaster response, and support Medical Center Emergency conditions and codes such as bomb threats, patient abduction and elopement, response to weapons on campus, armed intruders, weather emergencies, utility or equipment failure, hazardous material issue, or other emergency as directed.
• Physical intervention for the removal of unauthorized persons from hospital property, intervention of disruptive adults, combative patients, and the detention of individuals suspected of criminal acts, being under-the-influence of alcohol or drugs, disorderly conduct, mental instability or other issues for law enforcement intervention.
• Perform locks or unlocks specified entrances/exits.
• Perform access control duties at assigned security posts. Ensure that only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises; confront unauthorized persons for questions, routing or detainment appropriate to the circumstance.
• Perform Security Control room dispatching by utilizing Computer-Aided-Dispatch systems, monitoring closed circuit television (CCTV), two-way radio transmissions, alarm consoles, and receiving customer phone calls to dispatch security Officers and perform other Dispatcher-related duties.
• Utilize computer-based incident report software to complete reports, maintain records and assist the department with data collection.
• Appear in court on behalf of the Medical Center to enforce prosecution of individuals for assault, criminal trespass, or other issue as required.
• Direct traffic on Medical Center property and control parking of all patients, parents, visitors and employees. Enforce hospital parking guidelines for visitors, contractors and employees.
• Act as a resource of information for patients, parents, visitors and employees. Escort patients, parents, visitors and employees to and from parking areas as needed.

Description of Key Responsibilities
1. Provide security services to the college community by enforcing College policies, patrolling campus, and securing assigned areas or buildings.

23. Attend monthly staff meetings, quarterly division meetings and established training throughout the year.
24. Assist, as directed, in the hiring and training of new campus safety staff. Provide guidance and direction to student officers working within Campus Safety, as necessary.

A Police Officer assigned to Patrol operates under the direct supervision of the Patrol Commander and Patrol Sergeant. The Patrol Officer is sworn to enforce all laws and ordinances for which the Department is responsible; to protect the lives and property of all persons; and to maintain peace and order within the Village of Mundelein. When properly required to do so the Patrol Officer will provide any service that is necessary for the furtherance of the Department's mission and objectives.
The Patrol Officer will take the appropriate police actions, within the limits of legal authority, whenever and wherever required. The Patrol Officer will maintain professional decorum and will display a proper attitude in all dealings with citizens, superiors and other Department personnel. The Patrol Officer is expected to understand and comply with the orders, directives, policies and procedures, rules and regulations of the Mundelein Police Department.

Once hired, candidates will be subject to a field training process to be determined.
Work Schedule
Normally, police officers work an average of eighty hours per two-week period, which amounts to 2,080 hours annually. Currently, the patrol division works 12-hour shifts, which are re-bid on an annual basis.

Maintains records of activities and prepares reports to provide information to investigators and/or prosecutors or any stakeholder that may require use of that information; submits timely reports for supervisor's review; and testifies in court proceedings to present evidence and to give personal account of incident/crime. Conducts arrests of persons violating the law including physically detaining persons according to established guidelines and procedures. Responds to emergency situations and begins to administer basic first aid to injured persons as necessary. Performs various other tasks to assist other emergency personnel such as crowd control, directing traffic, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for pre-certified appointment to the position of Police Officer must meet the following minimum qualifications and requirements at the time of application:
Resident of, and legally authorized to work, in the United States
High school diploma or equivalent high school education
Must be at least 21 years of age and under the age of 35 years. The foregoing age 35 limitation shall not apply in the case of any person having previous employment status as:
A police officer in a regularly constituted police department of any municipality, regardless of whether the municipality is located in Illinois or in another state, or
An auxiliary police officer under Section 3.1-30-20 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/3.1-30-20) for at least 5 years and is under 40 years of age, or
A deputy under Section 3-6008 of the Illinois Counties Code (55 ILCS 5/3-6008) who otherwise meets necessary training requirements, or
A sworn officer with the Illinois Department of State Police or
A veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision of this section by the number of years served on active military duty, but by no more than 10 years of active military duty.
Valid full-time certification as a Police Officer from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Out of state certifications shall not be accepted.
Must be currently employed as a Full-Time Certified Police Officer. Prior Law Enforcement experience must include job duties and responsibilities similar to those of a Glenview Police Officer.
Substantiation of having passed most recent law enforcement Field Training Program. If a Law Enforcement employer does not have a formal Field Training program, an official letter from the highest ranking member of the department (most commonly the Chief), stating the applicant has met the department's training requirements may be accepted. Additionally, this requirement may be waived by the Board in circumstances where the verified years of service with a law enforcement employer support the completion of the Field Training program.
Valid Driver's License
Valid Illinois Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card prior to receiving a conditional offer of employment.
Selection Process
The selection process shall be so fashioned as to test fairly the capacity and fitness of the person examined to discharge the duties of the position of Police Officer. Applicants may be recommended to be removed from the process following any of the examination components. The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will select from among the applicants successfully completing all examination components.
Applications will remain on file for six (6) months, after this duration of time applications will automatically be removed from the process and applicants must reapply if still interested.
Applicants selected to continue in the selection process will be subjected to the following examination components:
Background Investigation: Independent investigation of the applicant's moral character, personality, temperament, and other factors which may bear upon the applicant's fitness for the position of Police Officer. Independent investigation of the applicant's work experience and merit in past performance of similar work.
Polygraph Examination: No applicant shall be disqualified solely on the basis of polygraph chart evaluations.
Assessment: Tests of practical abilities measuring the applicant's ability to perform the tasks associated with performing the essential job functions of Police Officer.

Shift Assignment: Shift selections are determined on an annual basis by seniority.
Shift Description: Officers assigned to the Patrol Division work 12 hours per day. All other Officers, including Detectives, work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The Patrol Division consists of two shifts, 6 a.m. 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Each shift is divided into two squads, which alternate days off. The Patrol Division also has early and late car assignments. All Police Officers will work holidays, nights and weekends as required.
Probationary Period: Officers are on probation for 1 year subsequent to their completion of the Field Training Officer Program.
