Duties During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include: Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area. Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A. Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Uniformed Division has accomplished this mission through individuals who embody honor, integrity and a commitment to excellence. Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more. Requirements U.S. citizenship is required. Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license. Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process. Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory. Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid. Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position. Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY: Under the supervision of the Director of School Safety and Security, this position plays a vital role in supporting the safety and security programs within the school environment. This position performs a variety of administrative tasks that support the development, implementation, and monitoring of emergency response plans, district-wide safety protocols, and general safety practices in accordance with internal policies and procedures as well as regulatory mandates. WHAT YOU'LL DO: The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like. Core Duties and Responsibilities Supervises compliance with all IDOE school safety requirements. * Coordinates all departmental drug and alcohol testing, including random and DOT-required testing. * Coordinates and maintains building level compliance regarding mandatory school fire and tornado safety drills, and keeps and files all associated records, and assists schools with development of safety plans. * Serves as principal liaison with city and state fire department officials. * Manages, monitors and helps develop the district's online training program. * Conducts and helps develop training and consulting programs regarding compliance with district policies and protocols, as well as state and federal regulations related to building safety. * Serves as member of transportation department accident investigation team. * Tracks accidents for all IPS-owned/leased vehicles including all First Group bus accidents. * Files claims and works with insurance companies to provide necessary claim documentation. * Pulls driver information reports from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles as needed for any employee that operates, or requests to operate an IPS-owned or leased vehicle. * Audits records for accuracy and timely reconciles discrepancies. * Oversees the District AED program including maintaining all AED units and parts in all buildings, and the School Health electronic tracking system for parts and expiration dates. * Participates in routine supervisor, department, committee, and other district meetings as required. * Perform all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Experience in one or more of the fundamental subject areas of position, including for instance organizational compliance, safety, drug and alcohol testing, and regulatory compliance (including addressing inquiries from regulators and complying with mandatory reporting requirements). OR * Experience - At least 1-2 years of experience in safety, security, or administrative roles, preferably within an educational environment. School Safety programs, emergency preparedness, or crisis management is a plus. * Possess a valid Indiana driver's license (or equivalent), required * Highly effective communication, organization and negotiation skills required. * High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat preferred. * Prior experience working in a highly regulated environment preferred.
