The Position:
Airport Security Officer responsibilities involve maintaining the safe movement of traffic and pedestrians, performing routine inspections and screens, and supporting surveillance activities of the airport and grounds. As typically the first contact people see when coming to the airport, the Airport Security Officer interacts heavily with the public and often provides travel directions, gives general information about the airport, and addresses complaints concerning parking citations. The position requires active movement or standing for much of the shift to help direct traffic, especially during peak flight periods and for special events. On-the-job training is provided for conducting inspections. This position is located outdoors. Work on weekends is expected, and overtime may be required.
Responsibilities:
Directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic, patrols outside terminal levels on foot, and issues citations to vehicles illegally parked or in violation of other parking regulations. Initiates the first step in the impoundment of vehicles due to delinquent citations or other violations.
Provides customer service to visitors, passengers, tenants, and employees alike. Enforces the rules and regulations of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Performs recurrent security checks, vehicle and vendor inspections, and safety inspections; issues permits, and conduct escorts.
Works special events (airshow, dignitary visits, etc.), supports Public Safety Officers, as directed, and assists in any other task or duty assigned by the Chief of Public Safety or Shift Captain.
Conducts Persons and Accessible Property Screening
Performs related work, as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
Should be observant, attentive to details, and practice situational awareness, particularly when directing traffic.
Is able to have a professional and calm demeanor in stressful or hostile situations. Customer service experience or background is helpful. Will be able to communicate clearly and concisely in person and on radio communications.
In this role, the selected candidate will gain general knowledge of flight schedules. They will learn and understand regulations governing the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), as they pertain to traffic, security, and safety. They will also learn City of Knoxville taxi cab and limousine regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent, no prior experience is necessary for this position.
The selected candidate will need to become licensed or certified in the American Heart Association Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated Defibrillators once in the role (training provided).
Salary and Compensation:
The hiring range for this position is $37,559.88 - $48,827.84 (final salary will depend on experience). As a department, Campus police are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the Hardin Valley Campus, and answer the emergency calls to ************ at any hour.
Per TCA 49-7-118 “Campus police officer” means a person commissioned by an employing institution, school, or board and rendered an oath to provide police services, enforce law, exercise arrest authority and carry firearms, and thus is subject to the Tennessee POST commission.

Campus police leadership strives to maintain a great work-life balance for all officers, and police officers frequently go months or years without receiving phone calls from campus while off-duty. Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the college.
Essential Functions:
30% Patrols college grounds and adjacent areas on foot and in motor vehicle to deter crime. 5% Perform tasks related to emergency incidents, emergency drills, and the college Emergency Response Plan. Provides mutual police assistance, upon request, to local police agencies to assist in large scale emergencies.
5% Provides first aid and direction in emergency situations and coordinates emergency response by EMS, fire, and outside police agencies. Inspects and ensures proper operation of emergency and security related equipment.

One year police experience as a POST certified police officer (certification not current) with the ability to obtain recertification within six-months of initial employment as a police officer (probationary pay).

Crime statistics and incident reports measure the level of safety and security on campus. Calls for service such as personal safety escorts, door unlocks, car battery boosts, and vehicle unlocks measure the amount of services provided to the campus community.
Scope of Responsibility:
Inadequate job performance could result in personal injury or death to a member of the campus community or visitor. Poor performance could result in stolen or damaged property or equipment that could greatly hinder regular college operations. Physical Demands:
The police officer is required to meet the physical standards set by the TN P.O.S.T. Academy and Commission. The TN P.O.S.T. Job Purpose: The Patrol Officer (Police Officer 1) supports students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors by monitoring activity on campus for the purpose of maintaining peace and enforcing laws and supports the college by ensuring a safe educational and work environment. However, officers are occasionally required to perform duties and functions at other WSCC campuses.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs foot and vehicle patrols of campus to preserve the peace and enforce the rules and regulations of the college, state, federal and local laws, directs and manages vehicular traffic, secures and unlocks campus areas as needed.
Responds to calls for service; investigates motor vehicle incidents, criminal offenses, and non-criminal incidents; and takes appropriate law enforcement or investigative action. Monitors and reviews security camera recordings to assist in investigations and to ensure safety for the campus community.
Conducts investigations of crimes or incidents committed or occurring on campus; seeks out and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects; develops leads and tips; searches crime scenes; analyzes and evaluates evidence; arrests offenders; prepares cases for giving testimony and testifies in court and disciplinary proceedings.
Assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors as needed and otherwise protects and serves. Assists with emergency planning for the campuses. Participates in emergency management and safety training and coordination. Conducts safety equipment checks as assigned. Maintains Tennessee P.O.ST certification by attending training as necessary. Attends additional training as required and needed for the college and department.
Develops and maintains a positive and professional rapport with local emergency response agencies representing the college and department in a professional manner.
Prepares and maintains various reports and records as required.
May perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma.
Must be currently Tennessee P.O.S.T certified or left a full time Tennessee P.O.S.T certified
employment within the last three years and certification status must be in good standing
(Note: If P.O.S.T is not current then a physical and psychological examination is required
upon acceptance).
Must meet or exceed the minimum standard requirements as per TCA 38-8-106.
Official background check is required prior to a job offer being made.
Knowledge of campus policies and campus jurisdictional areas.
Knowledge of city, county, and state laws and court proceedings.
Knowledge of effective methods of investigation and police/security work.
Ability to operate law-enforcement equipment.
Ability to meet institutional and local area requirements related to arrest authority and weapons use.
Possess a basic knowledge of computer equipment and Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice Technology or related field.
At least two years of law enforcement experience.

Environment & Working Conditions: Work is completed in a variety of different settings including indoor and outdoor. Incumbent is regularly exposed to different weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, rain, wind, etc. Some work is completed in a temperature-controlled office setting with good lighting.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
Requires frequent and significant movement by foot and patrol car.
Requires use of hands, eye, and finger coordination, must be able to handle and operate various types of police equipment to include firearms, Taser, handcuffs, baton, operation of communication equipment and/or other job tools.
Must be able to complete required training, including mandatory annual P.O.S.T training.
Must be able to wear a ballistic vest

Allied Universal Special Police Officers assigned to hospital environments are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure setting for patients, visitors, and staff. Officers perform regular patrols of assigned areas, enforce facility rules and regulations, investigate incidents, and provide professional assistance and information to those on hospital grounds. The department's mission is to ensure safety, preserve order, and enhance the overall security posture of the healthcare system.
Responsibilities
Provide a visible police presence and conduct proactive patrols throughout hospital facilities, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
Enforce North Carolina General Statutes and hospital policies within jurisdictional authority.
Investigate and document incidents, accidents, disturbances, and other irregularities occurring on hospital property.
Assist hospital staff in managing disruptive or combative individuals while maintaining professionalism and patient care priorities.
Maintain visitor and access control in sensitive or restricted areas.

Must successfully complete background investigation, psychological evaluation, and drug screening.

Must maintain required annual in-service training and adhere to departmental standards.
