Monitors the security system in Building Control to include cameras, alarms, security access areas, courtrooms; monitors the Judicial Center exit doors; completes a security check of the outside of both the Judicial Center and Historic Courthouse; and monitors x-ray screen for contraband and weapons. Performs security screening of persons entering the Judicial Center; observes the public for any suspicious behavior; answers questions; and directs the public on where they need to go. Assists in evacuating personnel and the public from the Judicial Center in an emergency situation. Program: CORT (Community Offender Rehabilitative Treatment) This program in partnership with Sarasota County Corrections, will provide a 40 bed secure residential behavioral health treatment for male offenders who are currently incarcerated in the Sarasota County Corrections Facility. The program will offer intensive supervision and evidenced-based rehabilitation to felony offenders up to 120 days who are incarcerated and awaiting sentencing as well as those who are directly sentenced to the program to serve out the remainder of their sentence. The overall goal is to provide treatment in a secure setting with a focus on substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, change the client's criminal thinking patterns, stabilize their substance use and/or mental illness, and assist in the transition into the community through vocational training and peer support. Position Summary: Provides safety and security to residents, staff and visitors for designated program(s). Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED Special Skills: One year experience interacting with patients within either a residential or outpatient mental health or acute care facility OR successful completion of a basic recruit training course or its equivalent (military, law enforcement, corrections) OR one year experience with any security related role providing protection of persons and/or property OR minimum of 2 years credible service in any of the Armed Forces of the United States Position Duties: Maintain a security presence by conducting walk-throughs of all client spaces Respond to calls for assistance or for emergencies relating to resident disturbances, medical emergencies, fires and other types of situations Assist with medical runs as needed Conduct and assist with searches of property for control of contraband Foot and vehicle patrol of interior and exterior areas of assigned locations Report suspicious activities and persons Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, an unauthorized persons Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping client information confidential; following established confidentiality policy and procedures; maintaining professional boundaries with clients. Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation. Documents and maintains daily logs, forms, and reports as required for security activities. Advises and assists other employees in calming and containing agitated individuals to prevent damage to property or injury to themselves or others. Evacuates buildings in response to fires and other threats to prevent death or injury. Campus Safety Officer - Substitute The Out-of-Door Academy seeks to build a group of substitute Campus Safety Officers to join a thriving school that is committed to providing a relevant and student-centered learning experience. Responsibilities - Reporting to the Director of Health & Safety (DoHS), the Campus Safety Officers will be responsible for the following: Provide safety and security services while on duty at any of the school campuses located on Siesta Key, Lakewood Ranch and Clark Road. Coverage may be for days, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Ensure a safe learning environment for the school's students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors through high visibility and/or CCTV Monitoring. Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic while also enforcing parking regulations on campus. Support the DoHS and Campus Safety Officers with campus/building security. Screen and authorize vehicles, guests, and vendors entering campus to ensure safety and security. Investigate and prepare reports on incidents and accidents on ODA campus related to students and staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - The following experience, skills & knowledge are required and/or preferred: High School degree required. At least three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, public safety or the military. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. Current Florida “D” (Guard) License and “G” (Gun) License required. Weapons qualification under HR 218, the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is preferred, but does not take the place of the required FL licensure. Current CPR, First Aid and AED certification or ability to obtain before an offer of employment. Valid driver's license. Ability to write reports and routine correspondence. Preferred NASRO basic School Resource Officer certification or equivalent. Compensation and Benefits This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
