Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:
You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week's schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance which falls within the availability described on this sheet. If you know you will be unavailable on an upcoming date or time that would normally fall within your availability described on this sheet, you must communicate this with your supervisor, so they know not to schedule you.

We are seeking a professional and dependable SecurityOfficer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to help create and maintain a safe, secure environment for our clients, their employees, and their assets. The ideal candidate has prior security or public safety experience, demonstrates strong integrity, and remains attentive and professional at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Wide range of potential assignments - events, construction, demolition sites, retail, corporate, etc.
Patrol assigned premises and maintain a high level of visibility to deter incidents
Monitor entrances and exits to ensure only authorized personnel have access
Remove trespassers or unauthorized individuals when necessary
Monitor and review surveillance cameras for unusual or suspicious activity
Respond promptly to incidents and reports of suspicious behavior
Complete detailed daily activity reports and document all security incidents
Qualifications
Valid Drivers License preferred
Previous experience as a SecurityOfficer, Guard, or in a related role preferred
Valid Illinois PERC Card and completion of 20-Hour Basic Training required
Reliable mobile device with internet access (for reporting and communication)
Strong knowledge of public safety/security procedures and protocols
Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment

The examination process is composed of three elements: physical agility, written, and oral board.
* The physical agility portion of the exam will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Student Fitness Center. Components are a pass/fail. Applicants must pass all four (4) components of the physical fitness test. No make-up dates will be provided for the physical fitness test.
* The written portion consists of a 92 multiple-choice integrity exam with a 30 minute time limit and a 75 multiple-choice knowledge exam with a 2.5 hour time limit. This will take place on Monday, February 23rd and Tuesday February 24th, 2026.
* Upon passing the cognitive test, you will be given a timeslot for the Police Officer Oral Board which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026.
Transfer scores for Police Officer from other state universities will not be accepted.
A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam and a psychological assessment. Employment is contingent on the successful result of each.
Other documentation such as College transcripts (may be unofficial), or Certificate from PTI showing successful completion may be uploaded under Optional Documents, provided to the Testing Coordinator at time of the written or physical agility exam, or sent to Human Resources, Campus Box 1300 Normal, IL 61790-1300.
In order to be eligible for Veteran's Preference points on the exam, appropriate military service documentation, such as a DD-214, may be faxed, mailed, or delivered to Human Resources prior to the examination or provided at the time of testing in order to receive the maximum eligible points:
