Additional duties include control access and egress; monitor CCTV and alarm systems; compose reports; deter criminal activity and misconduct. The Magistrate Court Security Officer provides armed security for Beaufort County magistrate's courts and court personnel, and performs related work as assigned. This officer follows guidelines established by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, as well as South Carolina Court Administration concerning courtroom security and is under the direct supervision of the Special Operations Branch Courthouse Staff Sergeant. Must perform general law enforcement duties.
Authority: Under S.C. Code 23-13-10 (Appointment), the Sheriff may appoint Deputies. Under S.C. Code 23-13-50 (General Powers), a Deputy Sheriff may perform any and all duties appertaining to the office. S.C. Code 16-23-20 allows law enforcement officers to carry weapons.

* Ensure the safety of court personnel and the general public.
* Maintain order and silence in courtroom waiting areas.

Must have general computer skills. At the time of appointment, must be a registered voter in Beaufort County. Must maintain all training and certification standards as established by the Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Job Description
The Security Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and evaluating organizational security programs to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role involves supporting the implementation of security measures, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending resource needs. The position provides the opportunity to gain exposure to more complex tasks within the security function.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of security programs across the organization.
Assess the effectiveness of current security measures and recommend improvements or additional resources as needed.
Assist in ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Monitor security-related activities and contribute to incident response efforts as directed.
Prepare reports and documentation to support security initiatives and audits.
Collaborate with departments to align security practices with operational needs.
Gain exposure to complex security tasks and occasionally receive direction in multiple aspects of the work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Information Security, or a related field.
2 to 4 years of experience in a security-related role.
Familiarity with security program management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work both independently and under occasional supervision
