Student Loan Forgiveness Program:
* After completion of probation, lateral hired officers only, shall be reimbursed up to $5,000 per year for student loan reimbursements up to a maximum of 5 years from their date of hire.
* Reimbursements shall be made for student loan debt incurred prior to employment with Bristol.
* Payments shall be made at the beginning of the fiscal year (during the month of July) with evidence of student loan payments for the prior year (July 1st thru June 30th).
* Eligibility for payment reimbursement shall not occur unless employed as of July 15th of a given year. This payment shall, if required, be made net of applicable deductions.
* Eligibility for the program and payments for reimbursement shall be made at the sole discretion of the City.

* Encourage and ensure that all staff and visitors are displaying proper identification badges at all times
* Assist staff and first responders in handling emergency or disruptive situations
* Work closely with school staff to promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and providing positive interactions with students
* Investigate and document incidents and accidents
* Assist building administrators and central office staff with planning and carrying out required monthly crisis drills
* Operate and monitor building CCTV systems to identify possible issues and investigate incidents
* Report to building administrator or supervisor any condition or practices that interferes with the safety of students, staff or visitors
* Provide traffic direction and control as required
* Attend training and meetings as required
* Take daily direction from school building administrators
* Travel between sites for routine or emergency purposes
* Be available for voluntarily and forced overtime assignments as needed
* Report discipline matters, suspected physical, mental and/or substance abuse to proper authorities immediately
* Adhere to federal, state, and local laws and regulations in relation to the physical control and restraint of students and staff to include those governed by the Connecticut State Department of Education
* Maintain the strictest confidence concerning personnel, students and operational concerns of the district
* Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
* Report all cases of suspected child abuse to appropriate school personnel and proper school authority
The Campus Security Specialist must be able to:
* Maintain a stationary position for extended periods of time to operate computer, printer, telephone and other desktop equipment,
* Move about the building and grounds routinely throughout the school day
* Communicate with staff, parents, and students in a professional manner
* Have after-school availability to work athletic, music, art events, and dances.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Prepare and present clear and concise reports in a timely manner
* Demonstrate exceptional moral character and sound judgment
* On-call availability for emergencies
* Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, regulatory codes, and professional standards applicable to RSD 17
* Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
* Ability to make independent judgments within areas of responsibility
* Maintain a level or approachability with administration and staff
* Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
* Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships
Education and Experience
* High school diploma
* Experience in a school setting preferred
* Prior experience in law enforcement, corrections or military background preferred
