Job Title: SecurityOfficer
Position Function: The security services officer will be directly responsible to the building principal and/or the Supervisor of Security, Safety Services. The officer will monitor the conduct of all persons in and around the boundaries of the designated facility.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Provide maximum security for individuals within the buildings and grounds of USD 259 and at school sponsored events
Knowledgeable of all routine security and emergency crisis procedures
Knowledgeable of all BOE policies pertaining to USD 259 properties, personnel and students
Patrols, in a vehicle and on foot, the parking area, grounds and buildings of assigned site and reports to the building principal and/or designee any violations which impair the safety of persons and/or property
Prepares accurate and complete security incident reports in a timely manner
Responds to requests of the building principal and/or designee in dealing with individuals disruptive to school operations
As required, assists in all routine and emergency situations pertaining to USD 259 properties, personnel and students
Possesses the appropriate communication and people skills in working with high risk behavioral students
Provides after hour duties as may be requested by the building principal and/or designee
Attends certified training and mandatory inservice training
Attends mandatory law enforcement training courses
Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required

Job Summary
The primary function of this job is the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances, and the protection of life and property within the City of Hutchinson and surrounding area. The Hutchinson Police Department will evaluate an applicant's overall pattern and use of drugs and alcohol. If prior usage is believed to be a concerning factor, the applicant will be eliminated, temporarily or permanently, from further consideration. Disqualifiers include the following:

hazardous material spills, and other public and life safety incidents.
• Conducts both preliminary and follow-up investigations and collects evidence in disturbances, criminal
incidents, hazardous incidents, vehicle accidents, and deaths; Verbally interacts with witnesses and victims,
suspects, and offenders to obtain information; Conducts examinations of persons, vehicles, premises, or areas
to determine the presence of individuals or illegal activities or articles.
• Determines the existence of probable cause and identifies and takes suspects and offenders into physical
custody, or refers charges for review and prosecution; Takes suspect or offender into custody and delivers
them to appropriate confinement location while maintaining security and safety of individuals being moved
from one location to another; Prepares reports of arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents
observed.
• Accurately prepares and testifies in various criminal, civil and traffic court proceedings; Executes official
documents of the court serving arrest warrants, subpoenas, etc.; Performs court security functions as
assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR SUCCESS:
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. A technical degree or some college credit is preferred. Must be able to graduate from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center and obtain 40 hours of continuing education annually
Experience: No previous law enforcement experience is required
License: A valid driver's license is required. Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
Must be at least 21 years old, be a United States citizen, and achieve satisfactory results on appropriate written, physical agility, psychiatric, medical, and background examinations

A Typical Workday May Include:
This is general law enforcement and firefighting work dedicated to the protection of life and/or property. Work performed involves an element of personal danger. What You'll Do:
Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a healthcare environment.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, supporting the needs of the healthcare location.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or identify potential concerns.
Monitor entrances, exits, and sensitive areas to help to deter unauthorized access and/or unusual behavior.
Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, patients, and visitors to address questions and/or concerns related to security-related matters.
Complete detailed reports of incidents, observations, and/or any unusual occurrences as required by site policies.
Collaborate with healthcare staff and first responders when emergencies and/or incidents arise, following established protocols.
Minimum Requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
