Under the general direction of the Chief, Lieutenants and Sergeants, the Public Safety Officer Recruit is a principal agent responsible for proactively carrying out the functions of the Philadelphia Housing Authority Public Safety Department. These responsibilities include:
Protecting life and property, preserving the peace and good order in the community, and furnishing a variety of services to the residents of the Philadelphia Housing Authority
Cultivating relationships within the development community which includes the very youngest, to the most elderly, for the purpose of facilitating a positive experience between the community and the Philadelphia Housing Authority
Liaising with development resident leadership to understand safety and order issues of concern to residents
Engaging in a positive manner with residents and management workers to establish relations of trust with Public Safety and police
Engaging in problem-solving activities that will increase resident and management perceptions of security in the development; recommending specific improvements that will support that objective
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma from a Department of Education recognized institution or a GED is required; Must meet all requirements of the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (Act 120) within six months of employment.

North Allegheny School District, a large suburban district in the Pittsburgh region with over 8,500 students and 1,200 employees, is looking to fill a position for a North Allegheny School District School Police Officer. A North Allegheny School District School Police Officer's primary responsibility is to assist in providing and fostering a safe learning atmosphere for all stakeholders in the school district.
Minimum Requirements
-Must have at least ten years of experience working as a police officer with a State, County, or Municipal law enforcement agency. Experience on a campus/educational environment is preferred.
-Must have received Act 120 Certification or graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
-Must meet Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) proficiency standards with a District-approved service weapon.
-Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both verbally and in writing and complete reports in a timely manner.
-Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
-Ability to attend professional continuing education courses to expand foundations of knowledge and stay up to date on new developments.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
-Currently certified, or willing to be certified in ALICE, National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Basic and Advanced SRO coursework, and other training deemed necessary by the Superintendent or Chief of School Police.
-Must have CPR and AED certification or be willing to receive training and certification.
-Posses a valid PA Driver's License and a good driving record and be willing to submit a DMV clearance check.
-Act 34/151/114/126/168 Clearances/Certifications required.
Starting hourly rate is $33.00 per hour.
