**Security Officer for City of Downey Police Department**

**Location: Downey, CA**

**Pay-rate: $19.50 / Hr**

As a Security Officer, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Education, Government and more.

**Responsibilities:**

+ Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out safety and security procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities

+ Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem solving manner

+ Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

**Minimum Requirements:**

+ Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles

+ Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience

+ As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

Responsibilities

Summary of Duties:

+ Enforces security measures and rules for the protection of all Kansas City Plant facilities, classified material and personnel within areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, conversion, theft or intentional destruction

+ Under direct supervision performs assigned tasks from detailed instructions, established policies and procedures

+ Protects the organization's physical assets by maintaining and safeguarding the physical perimeter, exterior, and interior perimeters of the facility

+ Patrols and protects the facilities by foot and/or vehicle to detect or prevent illegal/unauthorized activities

+ Reports/responds to unusual or emergency situations, using the appropriate degree of physical force and or weaponry

+ as situation dictates

+ Enforce access control to personnel and vehicular traffic entering and exiting the complex

+ Maintains and updates visitor logs, commercial deliveries and outside contractors entering and exiting the facility

+ Be alert for potential security, property or safety concerns and initiates the appropriate actions

+ Perform escort duties as appropriate

+ Prevent/report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations

+ Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities

+ Maintain proficiency with all assigned weapons as required

+ Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all security orders (special, general post) pertaining to assigned duties as well as working knowledge of applicable federal/state laws

+ Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment.

+ Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.

+ Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified

You Must Have:

+ High School diploma or GED.

+ Minimum of three years of progressive work experience in the armed forces security, military police or with a law

+ enforcement, public or private sector security organization or comparable education.

+ Valid State Drivers License

+ Must be a US Citizenship to be able to obtain and maintain a Level Q security clearance.

+ Ability to meet and maintain all DOE Firearms, Physical fitness, and Psychological health standards and comply with all applicable legal statutes

+ Ability to perform all assigned duties while carrying all required, individually-assigned duty gear
