Participate in district-supported training and provide updates to school administrators on issues related to school safety in collaboration with local law enforcement and public safety officials
Provide training on safety and security issues for the staff and students
Maintain and recommend for purchase, school-related safety equipment
Conduct internal investigations on behalf of the district as needed
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local law enforcement and public safety officials
Provide security presence at district events including graduation ceremonies and Board of Education meetings as needed
Serve on district-supported committees and act as a liaison to community partners regarding school safety issues
Provide support at district events and/or meetings outside of the standard workday, up to 7 per school year
Work calendar follows that of a school calendar with holiday recess.

The Ypsilanti District Library has an exciting opportunity for a candidate interested in making a difference for our community. This newly-created position will oversee and evaluate security services for the library district, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment that ensures all persons are treated with dignity and respect. The Security Coordinator supervises three library-employed Building Monitors, responds to and documents incidents, and promotes the security of library premises, property, patrons, and staff by maintaining a high level of visibility and vigilance. The right candidate will develop relationships with library users, staff, and partners, collaborating to address problems before they escalate, and play a preventive role as an active and visible security presence in the library.
Nature of Work/Responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Library Director, the Security Coordinator establishes and executes strategic goals and initiatives for systemwide security services with the librarys mission, vision, and core values in mind. Duties include:
Provides excellent customer service and ensures security services are rendered in alignment with the librarys values, policies, and procedures.
Builds relationships with library leadership and staff to foster a prepared security presence that knows and respects the communities the library serves.
Interprets, communicates, and consistently enforces library policies and procedures with library patrons. Advises patrons of inappropriate behaviors that may lead to loss of privileges in a proactive and understanding manner.
Schedules adequate Building Monitor coverage at all library locations, taking shifts at each Security Desk when needed.
Coordinates with the Library Social Worker to provide trauma-informed responses to crises when appropriate.
Directs, plans and assigns the work of Building Monitors; makes recommendations for hiring; develops their potential, and monitors and evaluates their performance.
Trains and coaches Building Monitors and other staff on security best practices, including public health approaches to community safety.
Helps to foster a culture of preparedness and emergency response.
Monitors incident reports and makes policy and procedure recommendations based on patterns observed.
Evaluates the security needs of all facilities. Performs periodic risk assessments of potential threats and works to minimize security-related risks.
Develops good working relationships with law enforcement agencies and a broad range of community partners.
Reviews video surveillance footage to assist library administration, staff, and law enforcement in accordance with the Library Privacy Act.
Responds to intrusion alarms/alarm calls and takes appropriate action.
Utilizes video surveillance software to monitor, review, and capture images when necessary.
Reports and investigates damage to buildings, furnishings, or equipment.
Completes detailed incident reports using custom software.
Manages crowd control at larger events.
Properly handles accidents, injuries, and other emergencies as they arise.
Ensures periodic evacuation drills are scheduled and conducted at all locations.
Writes and submits a monthly narrative and statistical report.
Attends Administrative Team meetings, and board meetings when appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work, mental health or related field
Three years of professional security or law enforcement experience
Two years of supervisory experience
Experience in de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed care, and/or restorative practices
CPR and AED certification and NARCAN training
Solid computer skills, including knowledge of Google Workspace and incident reporting tools
Valid drivers license and the availability of a properly insured vehicle for use on the job at time of appointment and throughout employment
Outstanding written and oral communications skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends
Positive public service orientation
Previous experience with libraries or other non-profit organizations desired
Experience working with vulnerable populations and the challenges inherent to an urban setting

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS.
Eight (8) + years of prior relevant experience.

Thorough working knowledge of the NISPOM, other relevant DoD security guidance as well as the Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) standards.
Ability to interpret company and government security policies and apply them to program operations.
Strong understanding of Physical Security requirements to include collateral Closed Areas and SCIFs. Along with working knowledge of SF-86, SF-312, DD-254, SF700, SF702 and other required forms.
Thorough understanding of security databases such as DISS, eQIP, NISS.
Experience creating and conducting initial security briefings, debriefings, indoctrinations, pre/post foreign travel briefings and refresher briefings, as appropriate.
Ability to develop and establish an effective security awareness, training, and education program.
COMSEC Custodian certificate or experience are required.

Position Summary:
The Chief of Public Safety & Emergency Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Public Safety department. The Chief oversees campus law enforcement personnel as well as non-sworn civilian staff. The department is responsible for providing law enforcement service and medical first response to the college community.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all law enforcement, safety, and response to campus emergencies for the College; respond to and take a leadership role in major safety, criminal, medical, or other critical incidents.
Perform all law enforcement functions including patrol; investigation of criminal cases; inventory control of all necessary supplies needed for operation of department; operate and maintain the CLEMIS law enforcement system; Michigan Training Network, and Law Enforcement Information Network.
Act as primary point of contact and liaison with Federal/State/Local Law Enforcement involving criminal activity and investigations on campus.
Lead the Crisis Management Team (CMT). Manage and oversee emergency notices to the campus community using the system designated by the College. Lead the response to any critical incident on campus. Annually update the College's Crisis Management Plan.
Act as primary liaison with the Washtenaw County Emergency Operations Center during major natural/man-made events affecting the College.
Develop Incident Action Plans (IAPs) as necessary to provide a coherent means to communicate the overall incident objectives in the context of both operational and support activities.
Develop tactical operational processes and procedures as necessary under the Incident Command System (ICS).
Responsible for the College's compliance with Federal Laws concerning Clery Act compliance. Maintain the Daily Crime Log in compliance with the Clery Act and serve as a primary contributor to the Annual Security Report (ASR).
Understand and act as a Responsible Employee under Title IX.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, training information, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and analyze professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, and best practice summations. Revise procedures and training based on analysis.
Ability to give presentations and answer questions from college personnel, the general public, students, other members of the campus community, or media.
Manage and oversee College compliance with required Federal or State fire, severe weather, or emergency evacuation drills.
Provide training to the campus community on active shooter situations, lockdown, security procedures, and crime awareness and prevention.
Serve on the College's behavioral intervention team; evaluate risks and behaviors of individuals that pose a concern to the campus community. Provide social intelligence gathering and analysis along with threat assessment expertise.
Ability to investigate incidents; research backgrounds through web, social media, and online tools such as Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry and Offender Tracking Information System; effectively question complainants, respondents, and witnesses involved in incidents; review and capture video of incidents; and examine/analyze evidence.
Ability to be certified through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards to enforce State Law regarding criminal offenses, and parking violations on campus including representing the College in District and Circuit Court on criminal complaints and well as traffic citations.
Be available and on-call 24/7 for emergencies involving safety and security such as crimes on campus, severe weather, power outages, trouble-shooting the electronic access control system, or to manage other critical incidents.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public administration, or closely related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Ability to de-escalate incidents and use minimal force or presence.
Knowledge of law enforcement, community policing, and emergency medical procedures and techniques.
Ability to interact with a diverse campus community.
Ten (10) years' experience including at least five (5) years supervising a staff of fifteen (15) or more persons in a certified law enforcement, emergency management, or comparable agency.
Supervision at the level of Captain, Commander or higher preferred.
Three (3) years' experience managing video surveillance and security systems and related software.
No felony convictions; possession of a valid driver's license.
Physical ability necessary to perform the duties of a Public Safety officer.
Certified Emergency Manager Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
Knowledge and experience with the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Good public speaking/teaching skills.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of a Public Safety Commander or higher official, the Public Safety Officer performs general duty public safety work in the protection of life and property throughout the college. Utilizing established procedures, responds and takes appropriate action in the event of crime, fire, or medical emergencies. Conducts foot, bicycle and vehicle patrol on a random basis. Takes action when necessary in the enforcement of certain state and local laws. Provides a broad scope of assistance to students, staff, and public, ranging from dispensing simple directions to performing emergency medical first responder activities and intervening in situations of criminal or violent nature. Acts in place of a Sergeant when authorized.

Shift: 2 Job Description: University Law Enforcement Officers are the principal agents responsible for carrying out policing, safety and security functions of the University of Toledo Police Department. These functions include protection of life and property, preservation of the peace and good order of the community, and the furnishing of various services to facilitate the smooth operation of the University.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Must be at least 21 years old.
2. Must have weight proportionate to height and have a level of physical condition and fitness satisfactory to fulfilling the duties of a Law Enforcement Officer as determined by medical and fitness tests prescribed by the Chief of Police.
3. Must submit to a urinalysis test to determine the unlawful use of drugs.
4. A minimum of 96 quarter hours of college-level academic credits from an accredited university or college, having earned a grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or education may be substituted with two (2) years of continuous active full-time law enforcement experience (as a state-certified peace officer) with a certified law enforcement agency preferred.
5. Must successfully pass a psychological examination by qualified psychological professionals.
6. Must pass the necessary written and oral testing and interviewing processes.
7. Must agree to a thorough background examination.
8. Possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the University's driving policies.
9. Desired characteristics of the individual selected for the position of University Law Enforcement Officer include but are not limited to: An individual who is professional; has a strong and proactive work ethic; has a positive attitude.
10. All Law Enforcement Officers will start at the entry level and will be on probationary status for a period of one year, excluding time spent in an approved basic training academy.

Position Summary:The Part time Public Safety Service Officer is responsible for ensuring the public safety of the College community, including buildings and property. The Part time Public Safety Service Officer is a non-sworn/non-certified position. The Part time Public Safety Service Officer responds to emergency situations throughout campus, such as medical emergencies, fires, disturbances, criminal activity and any other calls for service that involve the public safety of the campus and persons on campus.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Respond to calls for service regarding public safety.• Patrol College property on foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle according to procedures issued by the Public Safety Department.• Turn off and on all campus alarm systems, monitor alarm activity, respond to alarm activations and take appropriate action.• Assist with general office duties.• Make initial written reports on all reported incidents. Maintain a daily log.• Lock/unlock all College buildings according to schedule. Patrol buildings and grounds.• Assist with the maintenance of assigned equipment.• Make deliveries of moneys and important materials to appropriate locations.• Check hazardous materials storage on campus. Respond and take appropriate action to any spills or hazardous material incidents.• Assist with traffic and parking control on campus.
